Did anyone see Rick Ankiel hit the wall a few mins ago?

Devastating hit. I will be shocked if he ever plays another inning of baseball. Real travesty. He was moving his left arm when they carted him away but he fell into the wall fielding a hit and landing face first falling off his feet.

not only did he hit his head really hard, but he tried to stop momentum w/ his wrist. It looked like his wrist snapped back as well.

Could have been concussion and a broken wrist.

I didn't see that happen. Was it his glove hand he tried to use since after he was carted off he used his left hand to thumbs up to the crowd. But wow that wall gave no respect to Ankiel.

yes Ryan...he caught the ball and ran into the wall to break momentum. Was off balance as it is and fell into the wall and used his glove hand to hold himself up but that slipped and he hit his head into the wall awkwardly and just passed out on the ground

I think what made it worse was he switched the ball out of his glove hand into his bare hand and drove that same hand into the wall.

just saw it on sportscenter, he is very lucky he wasn't seriously injured. That couldn't have felt very good

Yep had to preserve that one...sure most of us have been there after a big loss or horrid beat.

X-rays and a CT scan of Ankiel's head, neck and back were all negative and showed no fractures, team spokesman Brian Bartow said. Ankiel remained hospitalized overnight for observation and the team said he was day to day.
