OT: does anyone here sell stuff on ebay? big fees
so i had come across a new blackberry curve in which i just sold on ebay for $310, i had never sold anything on ebay so just put the shipping costs to what most people did for similar items, the medium amount was 10 bucks so i did that. The phone sold last night so i strolled into UPS this morning, i packaged the item myself( bought the smallest envelope packing slip it would fit in) and they weighed it up, the cashier then says 18.92, and to me its like ok , so i pay like 16 in fees to sell it then another 20 bucks in shipping, i still made a nice profit. My question is, is there a cheaper way to ship your items? if you do it via USPS there is no tracking number so paypal will probably keep a hold on your funds for the 21 days. But i guess my bigger question is how does anyone sell 1 or 2 dollar items and make any kind of profit with shipping costs? and insertion fees? that cell phone probably weight less than a pound and it was 20 bucks to ship,

Yes, I am a power seller on Ebay, the fees are very high but its still cheaper than renting a physical space in your home town and your getting a world wide client base.

I've sold a car, iphone, game consoles, jerky, etc. Yeah the fees are high and they double-dip if you accept Paypal but I've found that I usually get much more than other portals.

The car, for example, sold for $1000 more than I had advertised on Craigslist. The fee was under $100 so it was well worth it.

You can ship USPS with signature/delivery confirmation for a couple of bucks extra. I prefer UPS Ground cause it's more reliable and I can use a drop off box nearby.
