#363Originally posted by grease lightninThe guy was not asking if he should sell bear stears stock. He said he was worried about liquidity and whether he should pull his money out ot their bank or brokerage. Jim's advice was correct.
The bank failed in part when many lenders, concerned that the firm would suffer greater losses in the future, stopped providing funding to the firm, even on a fully-secured basis with high quality assets provided as collateral.
Also the guy was just asking if he should get his money out of there...which could mean simply selling his shares.Comment -

#365Originally posted by Russian RocketBear Stearns’ failure was due to a run on liquidity, not capital...Cramer was clueless and 100% in the wrong here.

All due respect, RR, but you are incorrect. The guy asked about liquidity which means he had assets in an acct that he was concerned about being able to withdraw. Find me one case of someone not withdrawing their funds from a bear stearns acct due to the firm failing. I assure you that you cannot. JPM made good on all accts.Comment -

The first part of the question was: "Should I be worried about liquidity"? And the answer to that question is YES, because that's what ultimately brought the bank down.
I'm not disputing that if he was just talking about a physical cash on his acct, then he definitely got lucky with JPM takeover.Comment -

#369Originally posted by Russian RocketI guess you can interpret this in a few different ways. My understanding was that they guy wants to pull money out his Bear Stearns stock. People generally call this show to get an advice on whether they should buy/sell/hold shares.

#374Originally posted by grease lightnin"Should I pull my money out of bear stearns because I am worried about liquidity" definitley means he is worried about assets he has in a bear stearns account that he is worried about being able to withdraw in the event the firm fails. For sure.

#384Originally posted by khicks26Many on the left were in favor of the UK leaving. Steve Keen, Michael Hudson, Thom Hartman, Paul Craig Roberts to name a few.
This is more than just about Muslim expansion, which wouldn't even be a problem if the US wasn't causing wars all over the Middle East.
Its also about people being fed up with neoliberal economics & bad trade deals which many on the right are in favor of. Including many of the right wing nut bags that post in this forum (Brooks85) So many like Trump don't have a fuking clue what they are talking about.
Its also about breaking up the EU, NATO & the US not being able to control European countries & force austerity measures. Its about trying to control Russia & China. Many in the US & many on the right don't know that the brexit works against much of the REP & DEM polices & US hegemony.
Funny how all the Trump clowns think this is a good thing just because of Trump & immigration. Trump don't even know what he's talking about.
The left hasn't cared about the concerns of working class folk in a long time.Comment -

#385Originally posted by grease lightninNo, he just said it was all a result of NATO policy and in turn, US policy. And he said EU countries want to deficit spend.... he did not say that this was all good. If he did, I missed it.
But the markets don't think it is a good thing and I put a lot more weight on what the markwts think than some professor from Mizzou
The UK leaving could be the first domino in the whole thing falling apart, counties having their own money (not the Euro) & deficit spend into their own economies. All those countries under one currency & one central bank makes them easy to control. Which means working people get screwed.
The market will bounce back when the shit dies down.Comment
