Hard work and grit can only take you so far. This US team doesn't have any players who are naturally skilled with their feet like a Di Maria or Messi and they'll never have one once they keep fielding average MLS players. They've never had a flashy or skillful player. Even Landon was average when compared to the half decent stars in Europe. When you have guys like Beckerman and Bradley leading your midfield you're not going to get any chances at all. Kick and run soccer will get you by mediocre CONCACAF teams but the big boys will expose you every single time. You simply will not win with less than 40 percent possession of the ball.

It'd definitely be scary to see what the US could do if they focused on soccer instead of let's say NFL. Sadly we'll never see that. Hood guys and the average American white boy will always look down on soccer in favor of other sports.

Other countries either have their naturally talented athletes play soccer like Brazil, Argentina and Germany or have world class development systems like Holland and Spain. Meanwhile the US is stuck with its ridiculous draft system, salary cap, playoffs and most importantly American staff. They need to adapt to the rest of the world if they wanna get better. Fire everybody and start hiring some Europeans and South Americans... Learn from the winners. Stubbornness is whats killing English and Brazilian soccer atm. Roy Hodgson and Dunga should've never been in charge and they've paid the price. It's either the Americans boys get into tip European clubs or you bring the coaches here. You will neverrrr win with MLS players and Norwegian/Bundesliga/EPL/Championship fringe players.
