Can someone explain to me how SBR infractions work? What is the difference between permanent infractions and ones that expire?

A breakdown of the point system would be useful as well.

I've never written a bad check, shilled for anyone, taken bets from anyone, stiffed anyone or stolen from anyone.

My private messages are blocked, I receive numerous e-mail warnings and I now have a permanent infraction.

The infractions are just points based, there is not really a secret as to how they work. You can have 2 points worth of infractions at any time, for instance if you receive two infractions worth 1pt each and they expire in seven days, if you receive a third infraction before that expiration date your account is automatically restricted for [x] amount of time. [x] is determined by how much time was left on your previous infractions.

What about an infraction that does not expire? Why are mods allowed to be very biased when it comes to who gets and who does not get infractions?

I have 47 infractions in my tenure here. I accumulate 2 at a time at monthly intervals. When they expire I accumulate another 2. Very easy to accumulate infractions and not get banned.

I have received a few of them myself. I was recently asked very nicely to not make fun of Sammy's disability. I have respected the request of the SBR staff regarding this issue.

You’ve left out a few bits of your story, and since you don’t seem to understand what I explain to you via PM or e-mail, maybe it’s me and if I don’t explain it well this time, I’m quite certain one of the other posters will let me know.

First off, you’ve got a history here at SBR. I’m involved in that history since I’ve been the traffic cop, so to speak. Included in that history is you basically lost your license after accumulating so many tickets. In fact, to the best of my knowledge you had a suspended posting license longer than anyone else who ever got theirs back. Like I told you the other day, despite what I would describe as great trepidation when you contacted me recently about coming back here, I’m the one who stood up in the office and said, “We should give him his posting license back.” Well, that might not be the exact quote, but I stood up for you and really was the first to say something to the effect we should let you back, might have been some curse words in there somewhere.

Do you recall something else I told you the other day in that e-mail, the bit about how I believe you are the type of person that seems to get caught throwing the second punch? And then there was the bit about what the Service Plays Forum was for, you remember that part?

So imagine my dismay early this a.m. when I’m greeted by an exchange of ‘you’re an idiot, no you’re an idiot” – I paraphrase, of course – between you and another poster to start my day. So I gave infractions to both of you and moved the crap to the Private Zone. And I set your infraction to ‘never’ on the expiration because, quite frankly, I thought maybe something that said NEVER might finally sink in with you.

Oh and just to clear this up, pavy doesn’t have 47 infractions. If he did, the next one I gave him would also be set to ‘never’ in terms of expiration. I say this knowing full well he and others will now go out and try to reach 47 infractions. It's not a magic number like 19 to crash chat, folks.

Now Patrick – May I call you Patrick? – I’m going to admit to you right here and now that part of the reason I might have been even crankier than normal this morning is the fact that for the last week & a half or so, I’ve been battling some health problems. No, it's not swine flu or something really bad. I hope.

Don’t expect any sympathy and fully understand that some are going to give me hard time about even mentioning it. Still, I’m pretty sure that’s why I’ve been in a sour mood, sorry, sourer mood than normal lately. Went to the doctor earlier this morning and without going into detail, I’ve been poked a prodded in places best left unpoked and unprodded if you know what I mean. They gave me new pain pills but they don’t really kill the pain, just sorta’ make it funny.

Switching gears a bit, do you remember Steve Howe? I mean the lefthanded pitcher, not the guitar player with Asia and other bands. I think Steve Howe the pitcher was suspended and banned a bazillion times from various baseball leagues. Maybe it was seven times. He even came back and pitched after a lifetime ban at least once, only the second player at the time to ever be reinstated from a lifetime suspension. Do you remember the first?

Sorry, I seem to always talk about baseball. But my point is, at some point in the last year or so, didn’t you think you got a lifetime suspension from SBR? And did you? Do you still think that a ‘never infraction’ means that here? Will ‘Neverland’ now be a new catch-phrase on SBR? How do bumblebees fly backwards?

I don’t hate you, bateman, don’t have it out for you. Same goes for a few other posters here that no doubt feel the same as you. I hate stiffs, scammers and spammers, none of which applies to you. But I’ve also been given a job to do with regards to general comportment on this forum. I really am a ‘file clerk’ of sorts here in addition to having to be one of the traffic cops. I’ve been given speed limits to enforce for anywhere from school zones – i.e., Service Plays – to the autobahn – Private Zone.

You’ve got my e-mail address and my e-door is always open if you want to yack about this more. I’m off to take another pain pill, prop up on the couch and watch quite possibly another losing bet I’ve made this week, and generally annoy and pester my wife to wait on me the rest of the evening. Why do you receive infractions for telling the truth, its bullshitt. Mods are so fuking board that they feel the need to get off on giving people penalties. There has definitely been a increase of infractions too.

I haven't received an infraction in quite some time. I think the solution is to not bite when someone baits you. I used to go right back at someone if they instigated me and of course I'd receive an infraction for it. Now I just ignore it. If I find it highly offensive I report it. Since I have taken to this new course of action i've found that my troubles with the mods here has been limited. Just something I've noticed in my experience.
