Coming to terms with NBA officiating fix or they just blow?
There are many threads about last nights game and the possibility of a fix being in. I have said I believed this league was fixed many times past and present. The truth of the matter is Donaghey gets locked up and chatter about other officials involvement is brought up and then just fades away. There are beyond suspicious events that transpire in NBA games more and more often. Any one who has watched more than 10 games has seen at least one, probably more, that have had suspicious outcomes in regards to the spread. I have been buried in the playoffs this year with an amazing 1-10 record and about 3 of these losses were very suspicious and even the 1 win was suspicious but in a positive manner for my wager. I've had to do some coming to terms with this and have come to the conclusion,

Whether games are fixed or not is irrelevant. Strange things happen far more than other sports or other leagues in the NBA, a ref was imprisoned for rigging games, talk of others who were said to be involved was swept under the table. Those of us betting this league are suckers if we are doing it for anything other than entertainment or unless you can really read the line movements and pinpoint suspicious activity and get on the right side. The NBA is now synonymous with the WWE. Bet it and enjoy the action if you like but don't be surprised when a team get 12 calls in a row and covers by .5 a pt.

TopGame, I think in basketball you get a lot of Over/Unders fixed. To often the number Vegas puts up ands up a point or 2 off the total. It happens with crazy consistancy. As far as refs fixing games, I agree with you as well, but I think it doesn't happen with the spread as often as we think. I think fixing big games would be really tough to do just because of the magnitude of the event. Regular season games are alot easier to fix considering they are under the radar.

The problem with that theory in regard to the Lakers/Jazz game is that the refs were not favoring the Jazz. There were more than a couple of plays on the Jazz end of the floor that could have been whistled but were no-calls instead.

You are correct on this but my personal belief (I had no wager on this event) was that they needed to maintain the Laker win and were afraid if they had called those no calls that may be in jepordy , they effectively got the cover while maintaining a Laker W . Had they made those calls, which I believe they should have, the jazz would have been with in 2-4 pts of LA and at that time they could have beat the lakers.

NBA might be or might not be rigged, but if you think it is then dont bet it. Simple as that.

I used to post on this small private BB where one of the members giving out picks was a college ref. I didnt believe him at first but he would tell us which games he was reffing in advance and sure enough his name would show up as one of the refs. The funny thing is he turned tout after a good run in the NBA.

The game has changed since the pivot foot rule was switched to varies and the 4 step rule inception. Again I watched the 4th quarter Laker/Jazz game and if whistled for every violation the game might've ended around 3am

I have been very, very cautious betting any nba playoff games. After doing very well during the regular season, I have taken a step back. I think basketball is fixed, but not only by the refs, but the players too.

Would be funny if ref has the fix in for one team and a player in the game on the opposite side as the ref! Guess the ref would still win out... But imagine with a ref and player or two together...nothing could stop them...
