Backstory:

Having a rough night, you are probably right. Want to be sleeping but can't because the people in the apartment above me are screaming at eachother and appear to be physically fighting, Just had to call the cops.

So, you are right, I apologize for getting defensive. I'm a little off at the moment.

Yeah, really didn't want to hijack my own thread... couldn't really make it out. Sounded like two females and a male. Lots of F bombs, crying, and some loud crashing noises which may have been as meaningless as just one of them stomping or actual physical fighting, I don't knoe.

Was going to let them sort it out, but after 45 mins, enough was enough

So about 10 mins after I call, I hear the police banging on the door upstairs. "POLICE OPEN UP". Knock like four times.

Girl opens the door and says "We don't need police we need an ambulance!"

5 mins later there are 2 ambulances and another police car. Outside downstairs. Heard a bunch of footsteps running up the stairs.

After about 10 or 15 mins of confusion on my end, conviniently for me 3 cops are standing right outside my front door, one relaying what happened to the others. Apparently the guy was 21 years old and drunk and he "sliced her arm open", don't know what that entails... through the window saw a woman being escorted out by police and saw a man taken out in handcuffs.

Wow wow wow. Could have been worse. I'm really glad I called.

Yeah, I was hesitant to call the cops at first, because obviously you are brought up as a kid to know you only call 911 IN A SERIOUS EMERGENCY. How can you really tell from noise?

If they were just yelling I wouldn't have called the cops over it... couples fight and yes it sucks to lose some sleep but that would have been a "punk move" as you describe.

What set me off was the loud crashing noises, at least twice there was a very loud thud that couldn't have been anything other than a person falling to the ground. The combination of screaming, loud crashes and thuds, and a woman crying loudly warranted the call.

One day at the little slide-n-glide near my home, there's a young constable in the parking lot so I figure I'll go introduce myself to him and see what's shakin' on his beat.

I ask him what the two most frequent calls he gets and he tells me "domestic violence and meth labs." Couldn't help but chuckle a little. I point to my gut and tell him, "Well, it's pretty obvious I'm not doing a lot of speed myself, and considering I live amidst all of my in-laws, if you get a call about domestic violence at my house, it will be for a body recovery since my paw-in-law would kill me."
