This guy loves the fukkin camera, he is younger than I thought and more of a card than I thought. Ok I have to say that might be the video of the month. This is the 1st time we see a poster singing. No way this guy gambles though, he does not have the gambler look.

                  names the guitar rosey

i knew a guy who named his toy of choice miranda, never left home without it by his side, brought that memory up while listening to your song

Mud cat is too sophisticated to be here. Nice job **. I could see Mud down at Sloppy Joes playing as the sun sets in Key west to a bunch of tourists.

I doubt Mudder gambles if that is really him in the video, he seems to happy and relaxed. I bet the rea Mudder was in the back of the room checking scores.

I know. It seems a little out of place. Not much edginess or subversiveness to it.

Next time I'm on a wedding video I'll make sure I do Zappa's, Why Does it Hurt When I Pee?

You know, all kidding aside, the whole thing was a pretty special deal which will be a strong memory for the rest of my life. Mom and dad were so proud. That does not get less significant even at my age.

There is some sub-text there too. My sister is a wonderful person that I was not always the best brother to. I am, after all, a recovering addict/alcoholic. Things were not always peachy. That relationship has been well-repaired for quite awhile but, when I see this video, I can't help but reflect on the before-and-after and feel grateful.

If you watch the video right through to the hug at the end, that is a profound moment for me that runs deep.

I was hoping you might notice that I managed to dress myself. I don't know if you would remember or not but you advised me awhile back about venturing beyond the world of jeans for a semi-formal date.

Well now look at me! Wearing a suit and blending in with the grown-ups!

JJ why do you find it surprising that normal people gamble and post on gambling forums? Plus he is a recovering addict. Gambling and drugs affect all kinds of people. "Normal" and "not normal".

Nice song Mudcat. Your sense of humor was surprising though. I had you in my head as a guy who doesn't get sarcasm and doesn't have a sense of humor. Maybe you let out your dark side on SBR, and your dark side doesn't have room for jokes.

Maybe I'm over analyzing the situation as usual.

Mudcat, this sent chills up my spine! It was so full of emotion, and the lyrics were so obviously heartfelt, the entire performance just blew me away. I wish I could jam with you someday, you play precisely the style of music that I most enjoy performing.

Is the G Major one of your favorite keys? As a pianist I play all key signatures with facility, but when I compose I tend to use more black keys, typically BMaj or F#Maj.

Thanks so much for sharing! This totally made my day.

A big yes to that. I used to be a much better instrumentalist but I just don't play that much any more so everything gets increasingly simplified. More strumming, less picking. Fewer bar chords and whatnot.

If your thing is a firm strum on a 12 string guitar, there is nothing better than the key of G.

I am probably a little more adventurous on the piano but I'm not as technically proficient as I once was. And regardless, G is a good key for my vocal range. I think I have gotten to the point where my main strength is singing.

And I feel you on letting some of the technical musicianship fade as you get older. I've found that I can sound just as good without any of the flourishes and embellishments that I use to apply to my playing. I'm content to weave a chord wall behind my voice and hope that the simplicity carries the day.

On another topic, did you find you had to re-learn some of the fine motor control necessary for quality accompaniment when you stopped drinking? Lately I've realized that I've been drinking so regularly and for so long that when I sit down at the piano sober I truly sound like shit. I need a couple drinks to get my flow and groove, if that makes any sense. I was wondering if you've experienced anything similar.
