Cleveland is favored today because unsophisticated, and mostly non-predictive, “forecasts” give the Clippers a slight edge, but in reality, sharper lines favor Cleveland to win by as many as 5 points. An overwhelming number of tickets, including unsophisticated backers, are on Cleveland.

Without disclosing further details I can tell you that the oddsmakers were forced to open with Cleveland slightly favored as protection from the flood of Cleveland money, both market moving and “public.”

The bookmakers had to follow suit as that line has since grown to 2 and even 2.5 in some places, due mainly to what I said above, but also other factors I am not getting into. Just be aware that it took a lot to move that line.

Blake Griffin has been out with a quad injury and still can’t play. I realize he hurt his hand in January but it is a quadriceps injury from late December (26^th I believe) that keeps him out of practice (his hand is fine to practice but he can’t run).

Many services still report the hand injury as the reason he is out but reports from my end indicate the quad is the issue; this is most likely public information though.

Without Griffin, the Clippers are something like 25-9 but the betting participants haven’t seemed to realize it.

With so much alignment on Cleveland and with the line so low, I would not be surprised to see the Los Angeles Clippers cover this spread. I would not, at this point, pick up the winner however as many metrics indicate a Cleveland win, by as little as one point.

This one could come down to the wire.
