Just read what I could find about his training. He's an athlete from another planet, but still, first time marathoners have it TOUGH. No doubt this pick is colored somewhat by my own first-time marathon memories and recollection of running NYC, which is an overwheming experience. I like the dog here.

Lance remarked on how much harder on the body running is than cycling. He's also logging miles well below what a standard 3-hour marathoner would in training, and he's not getting in any 15-20 mile runs because of his schedule.

His stated goal is to "finish within an hour of the winner" . So if he can fight through it in the 3:08-3:11 range and he can declare it a success.

From Harlem through Central Park is a killer (at least it almost killed me). The first 20 miles are essentially in one direction -- north. The year I ran it it that was into the wind. Then once you get the wind with you, here come the hills. Plus, the crowds (runners and spectators) are tough to navigate.
If he tries a 3 hour pace it will be tough to maintain. And running a faster second half is very rare for a first timer, even an elite one.

A prop that says he'll run between 3:01 and 3:10 would be worth a shot,

I believe they do. (And it takes a while to get a sample out of a marathoner -- you're dried up like a potato chip when you finish.)

A strong consensus developed on the prop at Pinny -- to the over. Over is now -181, where it was up as high as +123 at about the time this thread began.

Although he did have former champions pacing him for a 3 hour finish -- someting most first timers don't quite get.

Nice run. I don't have a problem with Lance taking steroids. The constant lying with a straight face is what is BS.
