When book shopping, is it annoying when...
the book includes a referral bonus into their advertised sign-up bonus?

I think it's stupid that the player is supposed to be attracted to this "join now" bonus banner only to find out the full bonus applies when you bring a buddy. What is that??

    20% freeplay + 20% buddy referral = a whopping 40% bonus!

As if the player is going to be wowed by the big number and then click on the banner and say, aww Shit, I'm gonna have to get my neighbor to signup with me!

I always thought it was bad enough that the bonus ads never said if they were freeplays or cash. Now players have to check to see if the book is referring to a group rate.

was at the bar the other night and i went to the bathroom....they had advertisements for betus.com advertising a 120% bonus.

        That is so laughable!

I've never taken or given a referral. I don't want to give a book any reason to claim collusion or any other reason they have for not paying.

I guess that promo says 40% bonus but when you read it carefully, it mentions half of it is actually for a referral. I'm assuming the 20% referral bonus is larger than usual. If not, that has nothing to do with a sign-up bonus and it is misleading publicity.

The marketing through bonuses is big in casinos. I had no clue it was such a big deal for sportsbooks. I thought juice was more interesting for the customers. Has it always been this important?

max, low vig is more important to the more advanced players not the squares. this type of marketing is designed to draw more of a square base client.

Dishonest marketing for sure. I suppose it might catch some new players attention but wont get my respect...kind of like sales calls at dinner.

Eventually all books will do it and all the flashing numbers will just be meaningless and makes the business look more shady.

SBR should list the shady offers even if its a top book.

Agree with Dozer, Books have missed the boat on referrals. And it should be a separate entity altogether, but give and give big for referrals but never expect them.

Also books should make it as seemless as possible to get new clients!

I play at pioneer books mainly and then wait to see how the newer ones are doing and then might post up there.

except when VIP rips you off after you refer them the first client and doesn't tell you that you won't get a referral...then you refer them a second new client and really get scammed...do I sound bitter?...lol...

It bothers me. What I hate even more is when you actually use a friends name and then they get upset about that. I have given up on referral bonuses, if you raction is sharp at all, or even if you just get on big run, they might not like you as a player and that can also effect your friend who referred you.
