I LOVED grunge, that period of about 1990-1995 or so was pretty much as good as music got, 1991 itself was probably the single best year for music.

Never wore plaid, never had long hair, wish i had more pics of myself from college days, alas i don't. Came to Champaign for college as a boy in 1992, left as a man in 1996.

yeah grunge was pretty good... it was a great period of time in my life, but I never really wore the plaid either....


small oil refining town in western Pa outside of Pittsburgh called Oil City of all things.....

went to college an hour away at Grove City College..... pretty boring stuff

Archie, interesting, i've heard of oil city. Have loved visiting Gettysburg, been there 3 times and i think its one of the coolest places to visit for a history buff like me. You been to the battlefield?

I will never forget going to see Guns N Roses at Madison Square Garden (with Soundgarden opening) in 91'. Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" had dropped about 2 weeks earlier, and they played the song over the PA system. I have been to A LOT of concerts in my life, but never heard 20,000 people get so into a song on a PA system. I knew that moment that the grunge era had begun and the hair bands would fall like dominos. GNR put on an amazing show that night (Axl came onstage at 12 midnight) but that Nirvana song never left my head.

casper, AWESOME story! Those shows were like Gilby Clark's first after Izzy left G N R, i saw them in Chicago in 1992 at the rosemont, to this day one of the BEST shows ever, they played for 3 hours, smashing pumpkins opened and no one knew them at all.

ITH, I used to work for a counseling service that was headquartered out of Sharon.....and I played in baseball and softball leagues there.... my parents moved to 15 minutes away from Sharon a few years back...to a little private gated lake community called lake latonka in mercer... you should check it out, decent place to live

Both GREAT videos!!! GNR was my favorite band back than. Seen them about 10 times in concert. My father had told me if I had went to that MSG show, he would not help me get my drivers license or my car. Suffuce to say, he stuck to his word and I did not get my license until after High School (which by then was useless living in NYC)

Axl Rose is it to me, guy may have his issues, but no one has his passion on stage.

Going to Lafayette Indiana on Saturday for a birthday dinner with my family, to a place called Mountain Jacks. I know where Axl lived till he was about 18, right by a place called columbian park in Lafayette..
