Yeah, we've tried to get Bob Vila to stop by once in a while to answer these questions. But to date, no luck.

I'm not a cabinet expert, but my first question would be what kind of paint are you removing?

Paint them with white primer first and then use vinyl wood finish which you can adhere on top of the white primer.

bob villa is a fag......its just blue basic paint that was painted on the cabinets, it looks like there are about 2 coats, but at the top there is trim with a small design and there is no way i can get int he cracks to removes the paint....i would like to use paint thinner, but sometimes it actually eats the wood, at least it did when i used it on ym guitar

Flyers.....the best thing to do would be to get a palm sander with a few different grades of sand paper. I've refinished cabinets before, that were not painted and I'm telling you now in order to do in correctly it's going to take you hours upon hours.

Just letting you know up front it's a huge job. Worth the effort if done properly.....but you have to put the time into it and get all the nooks and crannies or it will look half a$$.

Ah yes, the old 'basic paint.' Maybe basic paint remover would be the way to go then.

Seriously, I wouldn't use thinner. There are strippers that are made for this and knowing what kind of paint is on there is where I would start. You anywhere close to a Home Depot or something like that? Try taking one of the doors off or removing one of the drawers, take it down there and ask them if they have any advice on removing the paint.

As for Bob Vila, I've never really stopped to think about his sexual orientation, so I'll just take your word for it.

That's why you put the vinyl wood grain on top of the white primer. It will look like wood grain by it's actually vinyl.

It's like water resistant wall paper with adhesive on the back.

Looks kinda like this but there are different wood grains you can chose:

There are always two ways to go from point A to point B. Just because the line is the fastest way it doen't mean it's the better way.

Use a fine sandpaper with a low powered sander or better yet do it by hand. Go slow as there is no rush. You're welcome.

do like the one fella said and buy the paint stripper stuff. I once did a mantel that had like 7 coats of paint on it but u better be ready to put a lot of time in. Unless they make the strippers better these days it only takes off one coat at a time. I should have thrown the mantel out. It looks nice but it took forever.

Flyers u have to get the paint off first. Don't listen to these guys with sanding. Eventually u will need the sander but u will ruin the cabinets if u use the sander trying to burn off paint.
