    Big Boy Danny Get Out
ST. LOUIS - Just days after the St. Louis Cardinals won the top honor in Major League Baseball, their hometown jumped to first place on a list no one wants to lead: the most dangerous cities in the United States.

This Midwestern city has long been in the upper tiers of the annual ranking of the nation’s safest and most dangerous cities, compiled by Morgan Quitno Press. Violent crime surged nearly 20 percent there this year, when the rate of such crimes rose much faster in the Midwest than in the rest of nation, according to FBI figures released in June.

The ranking, being released Monday, came as the city was still celebrating Friday’s World Series victory at the new Busch Stadium. St. Louis has been spending millions of dollars on urban renewal even as the crime rate climbs.

I go there all the time on business. It really isn't a bad city. The downtown has improved dramatically from what I've seen in the past 10 years.

Hulu you can go the busiest part of St Louis and in broad daylight and get vials of crack. Its like candy there.

STL is a death trap on every corner

1 out of every 2 people are killed each day in St. Louis

Local government is taking a longterm approach to correcting the problem by telling survivors to have more children.

Your right about that bud, it really has improved over the past 10 years. However, you can go from luxury to ghetto in the span of 3 blocks down there.

That was East St.Louis and that place is still a shithole, with the exception of the strip clubs there of course.

I remember my first time there back in '95. I had to stay there 6 weeks for training. So one weekend I decided to go downtown but I missed the last exit on I70 and went across the bridge. 'No problem' I thought, 'I'll just pull off at the next exit and turn around'

Well I got off the highway but couldn't get back on. I got a tour of East St. Louis and it was like something out of a Cheech and Chong movie. People huddled around drums with fires burning and rotted out cars everywhere. And here I am in a shiny new Taurus. I am so glad I made it outta there.

LMAO! Yes I believe that Carl was modelled from JJ when he came back to Newark. Without his professional unit on his head of course. JJ wouldn't allow that to make it into the cartoon.

Now you know who JJ is referring to when he says 'we'. Its him and his wacky neighbors.

I was in East St. Louis about 20 years ago for a business trip.
I was riding with a local on our way to a meeting when we were stopped by a train about two blocks from our destination.
"Shit!" my companion muttered as he quickly pulled a u-turn and sought an alternative route. "We're going to be about 15 minutes late now."
Dumbfounded, I asked the obvious question as to why we couldn't wait for the train to pass.
"I've lost two sets of wheel covers in the last six months in this town while stopped waiting for a train to pass," he said. "I'm not going to lose another!"
Evidently things haven't changed much there...east of the river, anyway.

Rob, The only thing that change over the last 20 years there is the fact they now have a casino.

Why don't you ask onlooker about the time I took the wrong turn down a side street when I went on a 1am beer run one night this past summer. That damn mofo couldn't have picked a worse time to call me. I had 6 teenagers trying to flag me down to sell me some crack.

BBD, nice to hear they've got a casino...that should lower the local crime rate.

I don't think theres any doubt about the humidity at all though. It's really bad around here in the summer time.
