Yes BJ specials have lower variance, but to claim they are better EV is not true at all.

In my experience BJ specials have been better +EV, as I never lost. I'm sure there's many others who haven't lost on BJ specials as well. The same simply can't be said for book specials.

It's a matter of opinion, I prefer the guaranteed win.

To a point it's an opinion - in some sense I agree, I like the security of a guaranteed win. That said though, as a poker player if you are playing a cash game, is it better to win $200 on each of two days or to win $1000 one day and lose $100 the second? Likewise if you consider say the SBR daily tourneys, is it better to min-cash or close two consecutive days or to win first place one day and not cash the second?

I don't know the exact EV of a Blackjack promo, depends how long, how fast u play etc. etc. But based on my instincts, them giving us three games today with hugely +EV lines compared to say a one hour blackjack special, the former was a way better EV opportunity..

Was Texas Tech +3. Glad I didn't chicken out after the first special got destroyed - second and third both won pretty cleanly for a good day overall, thanks SBR!

i think the main thing about thanksgiving is time. Many don't have an hour to burn on blackjack

blackjack is not a guaranteed win

look at the past blackjack threads, every time there were posters who lost points

the EV of a blackjack special vs. the sportsbook specials we had yesterday are not comparable, and that's without even factoring in the time element involved.

The main reason is the discrepancy in the limits. Yesterday's NFL, you could've bet 10k.

Blackjack you can play a lot of hands, but the limit is so low, that no matter how fast you play in an hour (sometimes less), it will not come close to the kind of special we saw on Dallas (loss, but hugely +EV play) or Texas Tech (win).

The sportsbook special is actually a guaranteed win if you know how to play it.

Blackjack not only has a lesser EV, it is definitely not a guaranteed win. Over the course of an hour, it is very possible to play basic blackjack strategy and show a loss even with 3/1 blackjack payouts (sometimes you go long runs without hitting one).
