#106Apparently some racist stuff going on at Missouri that they felt the president did not respond to enough. Seems he got a little bit of a bad deal probably. But when you lose the football team, you are done. Football coach makes way more than the school prez. If the football team ain't happy, you get another school prez. You can get another school prez. You can't get the black boys to come to Mizzou and give the other schools recruiting material. You have to take action to protect your assets.Comment -

#107Lmao this Is funny ... Why do white people get so bent out of shape by stuff like this?you would think oj was found not guilty again. At the mizzu presser they even mentioned it something along the lines of some people are very happy some people are very angry. Deal with it jeez " lots of racist people on this forum" is an understatement.Comment -

#108Rush Limbaugh kind of agrees with you:Originally posted by Buffalo NickleNo $17 million dollar contract with ESPN. Mizzou has only been getting good black players for a few years now. They don't want to lose them. Players are worth way more than the school president. They've got their priorities in order.
I think these universities -- these institutions of higher propaganda -- are getting just what they deserve, folks. I think they are reaping what they've sown. They turned over the asylum to the inmates years ago, and the inmates have finally figured out how to blackmail 'em. You do it through the football program.Comment -

#110he didn't take action which is just as bad ... So bad that faculty was going to walk out. You'd be surprised man I have USC and cal state faculty in my family book smart people but that's all they know is rules and academia they have no real world problem solving skills how could they? think about it their whole adult life has been in a classroom not really in the real world they never had a real job .Did you hear Wolfe speak dude sounded like robot.Originally posted by xdodger19What did the president do wrong, by resigning he is pretty much saying he is guilty of racism, or being part of allowing an environment of racism. #111Rush is a Republican but as most Rs does not understand the free market. $17 million in TV money alone is $200,000 per player as a financial asset. That's free and clear before you ever even sell a ticket to the game or an overpriced hot dog. You do whatever you need to make them happy. This school president did not understand where his check came from and now someone much smarter will be cashing it.Originally posted by Mr KLCRush Limbaugh kind of agrees with you:

#115These players are getting paid, it's called a free education. Most schools cost at least 10 grand a year, so in my estimation many of these clowns asking the NCAA to pay them are actually getting paid 40 grand for 4 years for the privilege of playing sports. It's not the individual universities fault many players don't take advantage of what they are getting. No, they just want to complain about what they aren't getting. What they aren't getting, and what most students get, is a loan payment plan to pay of the tousands and thousands of dollars it cost them to get the same education opportunity. Why the fuk do you think they are called student athletes? That's like saying a kid that goes to intern at a multi million dollar company, with zero experience, walking up to the CEO saying well you make 500 million a year, I deserve 100 million of that because I am now part of the company, get real.Originally posted by Buffalo NickleRush is a Republican but as most Rs does not understand the free market. $17 million in TV money alone is $200,000 per player as a financial asset. If these players don't want to take advantage of a free education then fine but don't give us a fukin sob story about how much the NCAA makes. Notice most of the people suing and calling out the NCAA are a bunch of guys that pissed through all their money as athletes and didn't take advantage of their education opportunity and now are looking for a quick buck. #116They aren't getting paid. They are making money for these professional sports teams without compensation. That's great for profits. And the more they can keep the rednecks up in arms, the more money they can make off their endured servants. It guarantees the present system. So you just get rid of your school president if he endangers the profitability of your financial assets and you get another one.Originally posted by unde0087These players are getting paid, it's called a free education. #117How many interns do you know that ESPN pays $17 million dollars per year to watch them work and pays the head coach more per player than the NBA minimum salary for each player on the team? That's ain't exactly free market capitalism at work pal. Just because they call them "student-athletes," you think that is what is going on? Go read Gone with the Wind if you want a romance novel.Originally posted by unde0087These players are getting paid, it's called a free education. A few ugly incidents on campus and apparently, some wanted him to take more action than he did. He couldn't really have done anything to make too much of a difference but did not play along enough to express at least some fake concern. When the football team went out on him, he was cooked. #125So you are saying he was an aloof paper pusher out of touch with what goes on at the university.
So someone with an academic background with a great job, out of touch.
Was in columbia for 2 months, very grey and dull place
I went to cal state too The faculty ranged from very cool people, to jerks. The cal state school system is so confusing,
some courses were worth 2 credits, some were worth 4. And a c- is a failing grade. And humanities class doesn't count for a humanities credit, stuff like that. And they don't accept credits from other states so they can make more money making students take the same course again.Comment -

#129Everyone catering to this guy who wouldn't eat....just like raising a kid...they'll eat when they see they can't have everything they want. Unfortunately these kids now weren't raised that way...its why they end up offended by being told no and not treated like kings and princesses. Thank god my kid will never see the doors of these public schools and is learning life lessons when she is told no that sometimes you have to overcome adversity and the world is not a nice cozy utopiaComment -

This is really not hard to understand. It is very simple. The protests meant nothing. It was the football team that was the problem. That represented the loss of potentially hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars. For whatever reason, they felt it was worth taking action. Maybe they have been called n**** one too many times. What is one school president when compared to that?
Having your football team walk out would have been a disaster for Missouri. That is bottom dweller stuff. They aren't going there voluntarily. They will do WHATEVER it takes to keep the players happy and playing at Mizzou and keeping the black player pipeline open.Comment -

#135seems many didn't get the part that the missouri players were sitting out in support of a cause that they believed in. several other campus organizations including paid faculty were protesting the inactivity of university president in handling affairs in a timely manner as well. the football program has the largest pulpit to stand on so they are drawing the most attention to what is taking place on campus. i applaud all of the protesters and it is good to see these student athletes using their spotlight to help promote positive change for all.Comment -

#138What exactly was the president supposed to do? You had a bunch of people in organizations like legion of black collegians and sexes other race based groups plus Ferguson protestors as mentioned by Butler himself on CNN today who have been protesting for over a year on race and then finally someone got fed up and called them a name and they went crazy....at the homecoming parade is where butlers moment came..he and others blocked the path of the president in his car and surrounded them screaming white names at him...the driver revved up the engine and when it went into gear to try and leave numbed the shin on butler who was climbing on the car...he said from that point on he'd kill ginseng if need be to get Wolfe to lose his job. I mean cmon man...a bit much. Looking over Butlers LinkedIn page he seems like an okay dude and good character who means well but I just think his priorities are misplaced as far as actually helping anyone. And ESPN ran a piece saying players white and black on the football team didn't agree but coaches told them lay low this will all blow over. Said if they were 9-0 or in contention this wouldn't have happened.Basketball team waited til the resignation to issue a state by saying they would have done something symbolic next week if needed.Originally posted by Grits n' Gravyseems many didn't get the part that the missouri players were sitting out in support of a cause that they believed in. several other campus organizations including paid faculty were protesting the inactivity of university president in handling affairs in a timely manner as well. the football program has the largest pulpit to stand on so they are drawing the most attention to what is taking place on campus. i applaud all of the protesters and it is good to see these student athletes using their spotlight to help promote positive change for all.Comment -

#140all this does is set the precedent for getting more people to resign or get fired over BS. So go on a hunger strike, or not play football and you get a president of a University to resign??
Unfortunately this type of shit happens at every University, but because of the exposure by the football team, the president has to resign...dumb
This was a non issue "nationally" when one dude was going on a hunger strikeComment
