    NHL playoffs back to crap
Don't get me wrong. I'd rather watch hockey than any other sport.
But, the brilliant show we saw the year after the lockout is long gone.
The defense adjusts too fast. The playmakers have no chance. The game is too tight. The only way to score a goal is skate through 2 people with another 2 on your back and hope the puck bounces in off somebodys foot.
The skill teams are at a disadvantage. They need to revisit the rules again. These players have much more to offer than what were seeing.

I'd like to see them make the rink a little bigger. Players, in general are bigger now, and would make a little more room. Not Olympic size, but a few feet on each side. And make the goalie pads smaller.

looks like it's so much easier to stop a great play than make one.
Have we even seen one world class play ending up in a goal these playoffs?

          this has to happen.
other thing, maybe more strict on holding, interference....guess they already tried this.

Maybe, but I'm not a fan of games with a ton of pp's.

only agree w/ making pads smaller

make goalies actually stop pucks not just hope they get hit by 1

hockey has really fallen apart in ym book i love the game, i choose it over any thing in this world. But the rules these ridiculous penalites kill the game. Like you said only way to score is off someones foot or shin pad....they need to revist the rules or make the ice bigger....this game is just not the same....shots fromt he point never go straight in it will go off of 3 different shin pads before it gets to the goalie and if it goes it, its a goal...thats not good hockey in my book....something has to be done...

What do mean back to crap? It has always been crap. Figure skating meets boxing does not a sport make.

Hockey playoffs is about as exciting as it gets in the sports world.

you're right Flyers. Anybody who has followed hockey for 30+ years knows the possibilities this game has to offer. And in my opinion todays players have more skill than ever. We still see glimpses of great hockey in international play, and the playoffs just three years ago were spectacular.
The game has just become too defensively dominant in the nhl. Especially playoffs. Rules need to be changed to establish a better balance so the players can display the phenomenol skill. Otherwise were missing out.

hockey is such a dead sport. within 10 years the nhl will cease to exist. even with increased ratings on vs channel (lol) the lockout killed this league. i used to be the biggest nhl fan but its an afterthought for me.

reno cool....ive been following since i was 5 im 22 now, i think its safe to say 17 yrs enough time to see the changes in the nhl...i gave up on the nhl when i was 18, i then got back into it when i was 20...im about to give up on it again, and it makes me sick to my stomach

also why play 82 games a season then get to the playoffs and its a complete different atmosphere...example: capitals dominated teams all season, now look at them they cant beat the NYR, a team who can barely score....they need to cut the season games down to at least half of that 82, i think that might help as well as making the ice a little bigger.....i see now why for example JAGR, went back to the league he came from...all those players went back to the leagues they came from when the lockout came into effect, they r here for the money ...its not about the game anymore.....its sad real sad....such a great game to watch and play, but the nhl destroys everything

I can see how the nhl may cease to exist. But in no way does that mean that the game of hockey itself is in danger. The nhl needs to quit pandering to the jokers and those US fans who think the game is about rough stuff and fighting.
It used to be the best players were small and quick. Now you have to be a monster to compete. If they don't limit the physical play in some way it will turn into sumo on skates.
