Brocker, i have a deal with paver that when he makes a vid out of the house and interacting with society and people, that i will make a vid too.. so in other words, looks like no video by me.. paver hasn't been outside away from his computer since 1989 and has forgotten what it's like to talk to regular people without a keyboard in front of him. he wouldn't know what to say.

brocker, weather is nice now and soon will be showing off my baseball skills in a vid.. the boys have seen the running, the hockey the basketball and even the football, but no one has yet seen the sweet swing or the great pitching and the power I have, and they will soon be seeing the talent i have in baseball. i am a natural, brocker. .

i am one of the greatest baseball players in sbr history, and i will prove it to everyone here soon..

I know, they will be celebrating their last cup win from 15 years ago.

The party/parade will be called, "we remember 1993"!

Do you have any idea how it bothers habs fans that their drought has been 15 years, I believe that is their longest streak of not winning the cup and it is going to get significantly longer, life is good.

onner, you are right, that will be my next vid, forget me fielding ground balls and showing my great range at shortstop in a vid.. forget that.. it will be on ste catherine's street in the parade and onner will be with me on vid.. onner, big game tonight, if we win this one, we are looking great...

plommer, how many parades have you been to for your leafs? LOL.. plommer, i have been present for 6 stanley cup parades, to your 0... maybe that's why you hate the habs so much.. i think you might be jealous.. i'd be pissed too if i hadn't been to one stanley cup parade.

plommer, just to let you know cause i know you will never know what it feels like to be in a stanley cup parade. plommer, they are freaking wonderful.. i should know..

i understand now why you hate us.. i would too if i lived in toronto and had to grow up watching the leafs lose every year and have my childhood hero be Darryl Sittler and Borjias Salming..

Nicky the beautiful thing about the past is just that its over, NOTHING can prevent me from enjoying the Bruins eliminating the habs THIS SEASON, the fact that the habs Cup drought is at 15 years and getting longer just makes me feel that much better.

Nicky, nothing you say could possibly stop me from enjoying watching the habs and their fans suffer - TONIGHT and for the rest of the first round, relax Nicky, it will soon be over for the habs and you and I can discuss other things.

Go Bruins! ( put Nicky out of his misery early)

Nicky, when the Leafs are out of the playoffs I watch my Toronto Blue Jays play, how are the Expos doing these days?

Nicky it boils down to this, your team hasn't won the cup in a long time, and my team hasn't won a cup in a much longer time, you will get used to it (not winning in a long time) eventually.

Remember the main thing for me is to keep the habs from advancing any further this season and ensure they get no closer than the first round to a Stanley Cup, I'm aware of the fragility of your city and how that bothers them, the habs have become just another team in the NHL, sweet.

plommer, don't worry, i feel your frustrations.. i would be mad at the world too if i grew up in toronto as opposed to montreal as a hockey fan.. man, that must've sucked never seeing your team hoist the cup. i've seen it many many times.. life is not fair, plommer. in 56 yrs from now, i will have seen 12 more cups.. you will have seen 0.. which means now it will be 98 yrs since a leafs cup, so basically plommer, you will never witness a stanley cup as long as you live.

                      slimmer,

that was the worst swing i had ever seen in my life.. till today, i have yet to see anyone, including 5 yr olds playing t ball make 3 spins on one swing.. he made 3, 360's in one swing. the previous record was 2.5 spins was held by a 5 yr old toddler back 1994 when i was umping a T ball game.. that record was just shattered by him back in that vid 6 months ago.. and that's a record taht will never be broken again..

What comes around goes around pal, any old frustrations about the past are quickly forgotten knowing the habs are now a mediocre franchise in a mediocre city.

I know your frustration well Nicky, you live in a city that was once the envy of Canada, back in the 1960's you had Stanley Cups the Expos, Expo 67 and a population that mattered, then the 1970's hit and Canadas then second largest city (Montreal was the largest) TORONTO started attracting people who knew the future was not in Quebec, Toronto surpassed Montreal as the Business/Cultural centre of this country and most populous city as well.

Then we got a baseball franchise and went on to win Championships while Montreal couldn't support a team and they left town just like everyone/anything else that once mattered, sad. We also have NFL football and NBA basketball, something that would never be considered in montreal, but you think I'm jealous?
Nicky Torontos future is much brighter than your town, I understand how that feels.

Nicky times were great in montreal in the old days, the fact Toronto has surpassed you as the number one city in Canada is tough on you montrealers so you cling to the past but the past is not reality. Now all montreal has left are the hab glory days memories and that is a tough sell as nowadays the habs are just another team in the NHL that are American owned.

I think I understand very well Nicky.

I will very much enjoy watching the Bruins dismantle montreal tonight, heading home to montreal down two games is right where the habs will be.

Nicky, got any other memories of the old days to share?

I also understand the resentment that the most important team in Canada are the Leafs, they have the largest following, are the most valuable NHL franchise and are the most broadcast team in Canada - why? Because Toronto is important and lucrative, the population here dwarfs that of any other Canadian city and the Leafs make money for broadcasters and advertisers.

Montreal might be a distant second, I dunno. Maybe.

plommer, i cant argue with your post at all.. i swear it was very accurate. if you look at 1971 population, mtl had 1.4 million, toronto ony had 400,000. now it's 4 million to 3 million toronto. everyone left mtl for toronto for business. mtl was #1 city in canada, toronto surpassed it for business reasons. we were canada, not anymore. you are right there.

and also, you are right, the 70's, we were the city of champions. 75-79, 4 straight stanley cups (dynasty), 79,80 and 81 we were by far best team in majors, always fell one game or one pitch away from world series. we were the team of the 80's and lots of promise. you forgot the montreal alouettes (cfl) winning the grey cup in 79 and many other grey cups. in 79, we almost won in every sport. we were drawing 2.4 million fans with expos every year. mtl was the city to be at. we were everyone's envy.. i was proud to be living here. things have changed, you're right..

but it doesn't change the fact that you are dead jealous of the habs now and their history of cups, which is why you hate them. same reason why everyone hates the yankees.. envy and jealousy.. and because they were always so good..

Nicky I WAS jealous as a kid, but the arrogance of montreal and their fans is what fuels my great dislike of habs fans today. The fact they loved to rub Torontos noses in it only made me dislike them more.

Actually, now that the habs glory days are over I have been given a great gift, the habs are mediocre and it hurts and Torontonians remember all too well how it felt when montreal fans rubbed it in, paybacks are a bitch.

PS: I'm not counting CFL, Saskatchewan and the prairies are true CFL fans and I appreciate them but when you have MLB, NHL, NBA & NFL games in your home city the CFL is easily forgotten.

PS: I cheer for Saskatchewan in CFL, NOT the Argos.

i dont know tommy, maybe plommer, matty, or pucker can say.. i dont follow politics, but yes, after the referendum in early 80's and quebec wanting to separate, the city has never been the same.. mtl in late 70's and late 60's with EXPO 67, i hear, was unreal. it was the happiest place to be at. the worlds fair, the opening of La Ronde, the expos arrive in montreal. it was the greatest city in the world.. it was a happy time for everyone.. everyone was so happy here.. it was a happy time and life was so easy here.

now mtl is no longer the same.. it has died.. all moved to ontario and it's not what it used to be here. we were 3x the population of toronto, now toronto is almost double us...

the good days are over here in montreal.. i wish each guy here had the chance to live in this city 20-35 yrs ago.. it was a real paradise and the safest and nicest place to be at..

Not much to do with the separatist movement (which has never been dominant in the province, else Quebec would be a country by now) nor crime... it is very low for a big city. It has more to do with the language laws IMO. In many cases, it doesn't make good financial sense for businesses to establish themselves here - having everything translated is quite expensive. Foreign businesses who do business in English usually conquer the rest of the North American market first, then they consider coming over here. A lot of Canadian businesses have also moved their headquarters from Montreal to Toronto over the last several decades, probably for the same reason. There's a snowball effect after a while and Toronto is now the official business district of Canada. Immigration, our main source of population growth, is also down for the same reason. In the Internet era, English is more or less seen as the universal language and potential immigrants usually have English as a second language. Makes more sense for them to go to Toronto or Vancouver.

The "language police", the Office de la langue française, is run by a bunch of francophile morons. But don't get me started.
