#73Fun fact: Cubs starting pitchers have combined to allow 2 earned runs n the Cubs last 9 games. That's 2 runs in 60 1/3 innings for a 0.29 ERA.Comment -

Was so hammered last night, forgot I was making a thread on SBR like the old days.
Pretty funny, to me at least.
BOL to you and your cubs.

#84People still, STILL, underestimating Cardinals pitching staff. 3rd best ERA for a whole team in the last 40 years or something. Jesus Christ.
I'm not saying we sweep the series or even guaranteeing a win, but people all over the Cubs, who lost the division to the Cards and when Cards won the season series 11-7, is hilarious.
Cardinals quietly winning as usual. Cubs being loud about it.Comment -

#86We aren't a "regular season wonder". We've won our last 4 division series. We've reached the NLCS 4 years in a row, beating teams that were favored over us in the series nearly every single time.Originally posted by lakerboyCardinals are a regular season wonder. #88Difference is Cardinals were actually very good the last five years or so. This year, not so much their 100 wins greatly outperformed their peripherals, as did the team ERA. Looking at my model numbers, Cubs starting rotation grades out second best of all the playoff teams behind only the Mets, Cardinals starting rotation is third worst ahead of only Kansas City and Texas. Cubs bullpen also grades out much better than St. Louis. Offensively, Cardinals are better vs. righties, Cubs are better vs. lefties. Unfortunately for Cards their edge vs. righties gets neutralized when one of them is Arrieta.Originally posted by gregmav1
Last 4 years in the postseason.
That is an absurd amount of success. Also consistent.
Cardinals are under-appreciated and underrated every year, and it looks like this year will be no different. And more than likely, they reach their 5th NLCS in a row if history is any indication.Comment -

#89Dude I'm telling you.... people have said that narrative for the last 4 postseasons. Every single year people say "they aren't as good as last year when they made the playoffs". And every time I have to say "maybe you're right... fade them. And maybe this will finally be the year that you will be right. But up until this point you'd be 0 for 4."Originally posted by LT ProfitsDifference is Cardinals were actually very good the last five years or so. I agree our team isn't flashy or have huge numbers, but we win games and that's all that matters. Fade them if you want, but you would be out a ton of money if you had thought the same thing for the past 5 years. Tons of people have thought that way, and Cards have burned them all, consistently to the point that it isn't a fluke.
Not to mention this is the most games they've won in those last 5 years. Chalk it up to whatever you want, those are the facts.Comment -

#91Once the Cardinals go far in the playoffs, then everyone says "the Cardinals were good this year"... happens every year. But going into the playoffs everyone thinks their record is better than what it should be and that they will get burned round 1. Then, as usual, they win 1 or 2 or 3 series and everyone goes "Oh yeah they were a good team this year" and just like every year, when the postseason for next season comes around, and Cards are in it, the people say "they were good last year... but not that good this year."Originally posted by lakerboyDidn't he say they were really good last 5 years?

Whatever, just saying... cards outperform EVERY SINGLE YEAR for the past 5 years in the playoffs. We won the most games in the MLB this year. Don't be so confident on the Cubs, that's all I'm saying, especially with us only having to face Arrieta once in all likelihood.Comment -

#92The Cardinals are the Spurs of MLB.
They always get it done, never get any respect, always make the over-hyped team they beat look like a joke.
It's business as usual for them this week.
The Cubs lovers have no choice but to ejaculate for winning a wild card game, since they have a winning team once every 20 years.
Mayweather beats pacqiao in 4 games here.
Cards already eyeing the Mets-Dodgers series, praying the Mets can get there somehow.Comment -

#105I'm not sure who Kendriks is, but Kyle Hendricks has allowed 3 hits and 0 runs in his last 2 starts, with 17 K's to 2 BB. WHIP in Sept/Oct is 0.795. He'll keep the Cubs in he game, but doesn't go past 6 though so bullpen will be a factor.Originally posted by BennyBigNutsTo think the Cards cant sweep this series is just dumb.
