Cabrera is from Argentina and just day to day people down there are pretty good at speaking English.He comes across as sort of a Lee Trevino came from the wrong side of the track guy that smokes heaters on the course.I know there is a hiarchy down there or upper class and you would assume a golfer probably comes from that background?It's hard to gauge what background he's from?

No matter what,the guy has been around the PGA tour for years so you would have thought he would have picked up English by accident.Just think of all the money he's losing out on by not getting mainstream ensorsements in the U.S.A.He needed an interpreter to accept the green jacket.

Weird looking guy for a top notch golfer but he's got a sweet dependable swing.It always looks like he's having fun on the course too.He has that Mexican strong squatty back fruit picking stance that works to his benefit.

He can. He just didn't feel like it. He can obviously understand English... Nance was asking questions I couldn't even understand and he was answering them without waiting for a translation. I think he's just more comfortable responding in Spanish and didn't really want to worry about "translating" for himself.

As a fairly relevant example: I've had 4 or 5 years of Spanish and can speak it... I just don't want to... not perfectly fluent so not worth it for me to maybe make a mistake. Doesn't mean I can't do it if I had to. Better at understanding something said to me than saying it back as well.

What's funny are Mexican politicians who get PhD's from Harvard ... yet can't put together a coherent English sentence.

i refuse to speak cantonese when i am in hong kong. the ones has money or class usually can understand english or mandarin. that way, i am not bothered by low class sale people or scammers.
