With the house edge, I might be better of playing roulette or Blackjack... I tried getting into it but its it like rolling 6-12 lotto balls down the track... If someone had some good advice on capping ponies I would love to here it...

Know Someone
I have a lot of success on horses but I only bet one every couple of weeks. You need to get a contact to an owner. Races are crooked. The owners DO get together and throw smaller races and everyone cashes in, even the guy that knows a guy that knows an owner in the race.
I have made thousands from these tips. I know that I have only lost once and would guess I have gotten 30 or 40 tips over the years. Most of the time, the horse goes off at 5-1 or better. Duh... They hold the favorite back (Obviously for higher returns)...
I will try to post my next tip on here...
Peace,
rmdanie

Thanks for the chuckle rm ... The scenario you depict where the owners get together and fix a race just isn't going to happen on any level ... The fixed race, which by the way is very rare today, is usually done by trainers and/or jocks and certainly everyone in the race is not in on it ... The punishment for trying to fix a race is a lifetime suspension and prosecution for a crime ... If a race is even partially fixed (several horses being held back), you can be sure that a guy that knows a guy that knows an owner won't know ... And the bottom line always is, the HORSE never knows.

I agree with Kdmfox. Inside information is a good way to catch a nice score with the ponies. However it seems the most reliable information has been trainer based and it doesn't come my way very often. When I hear an owner likes their horse I rarely act upon it.Over the years its just not profitable in the long run.My best score was worth five figures on a horse that hadn't run in a year and had posted very slow works for his return. He won easily by five that day yet never won another race ever again. Its the old saying you can beat a race but you can't beat the races.

EhorseX is back. You can bet horses to lose if you like. It puts a new twist on things.

I highly recommend the book Beyer on Speed... it has really helped my game a lot.
