    interview baby!!!
just got a call from a resort (non-casino) down here, they want me for a job interview on Friday for the following:

Customer Care Representative (1) Flagship Resort - Flexible
Candidate must have excellent customer service and communication skills. Computer knowledge including Windows. Must have proper phone etiquette, willing to help owners with any request and ability to work well in a fast paced office. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule. Equal Opportunity Employer.

one thing that going to hurt me is that i was FIRED from Borgata, i hope this and other interviewers don't look down at that

do you have SBR on your resumé, as this would give you a big edge over the other candidates.

Bobby.. have answers to these and other questions before you go in. Being prepared is a necessity.

Why do you want this job?

          Why should we hire you?

What can you do to better this business?

What are 3 good qualities about yourself?

          What are 3 bad ones?

          etc, etc.

Do NOT tell them you want this job as a stepping stone to bigger and better things... unless it is within the company.

Nice Bob... Don't sweat the Borgatta job, I'm sure some of it was b/c they had to let SOMEONE go, maybe you were the most recent hire. As long as you learned from it and can articulate that you are golden. Get em.

                                  Corky,

Make sure you clean up that Resume before going to this interview. I noticed in the resume jobs that you currently are not working you put the present tense instead of the past.....its the first thing that caught by eye. Also put References on a separate page. I look at resumes all the time and can usually tell if I want to hire a guy by looking at a resume for less than 2 minutes.

As far as the Borgatta job....BE HONEST as to why you left when this place asks. Don't bullshit with them, tell them the mistakes you made and what you would have done differently if you had the chance. You would be surprised how far that will go with the new company.....

                                  Good Lucky Buddy!

Bobby...when they ask you what you are bad at or whatever...don't mention things like math or other abilities, use character flaws and turn the negative into a positive.

For example, tell them that you are a perfectionist or something that could be seen as a negative by some but also make you look good in the process.

Also, don't spit on the interviewer.

Bobby do not say you were fired, being honest is good but not for internet use. I think they will use that against you and think your a net junkie.

Bobby just say you left because it is a winning formula to moving up in the work chain. People that change jobs a lot can move up and say this job is an upgrade..

For example, tell them that you are a perfectionist or something that could be seen as a negative by some but also make you look good in the process.

This is true bob. For negatives always state something that can be turned positive. I.e. "I try to hard" or "I tend to spend a long time making sure the customer has the answers he is looking for."

Also, I wouldn't say that you were fired explicitly for internet usage unless this was told to you outright when you fired...

Another thing... do not use an email address that begins with bobbyfk... one Google search and the prospective employer can find this site... and your videos.

                                                        Just a thought.

Then I would admit it (if they ask) and explain that you thought you were using the internet an acceptable amount of time and that clearly you were wrong and how/what you have learned from being wrong about this.

                                                                Something like:
"I was told when I was let go that my personal internet use was a factor in my release. I did use the internet for personal reasons, email w/ my freinds and family, booking travel reservations, and other reasons. However, I also used the internet to access an online dictionary so that I could check my spelling in in the XYZ reports. I was under the impression that I was permitted to use the internet for personal reasons sporadically or during breaks or downtime. Clearly I was wrong about the amount of internet I was allowed to use or I was grossly underestimating the amount I was actually using. Either way I have learned from my mistake and in the future I will keep my personal internet use to a minimum...."

Something like that is non-evasive, honest, self-deprecating but also offers some justification and confidence at the same time...
