Anyone here use a CPAP machine?

I just got my first one last Tuesday, didn't sleep well the first few nights as it is difficult getting used to the mask and sounds of the machine, last night was different though, I'm getting more comfortable and slept most of the night without issue.

    Any other CPAP users here?

It's amazing how many people have problems related to sleep.

I went for my sleep study and was diagnosed with 2 types of sleep apnea, I stopped breathing numerous times and never got any REM sleep, last night I had my most restful sleep in 15 years thanks to my new machine.

more efficient sleep = healthier and longer life

i think that some people will start using them just as a benefit, not necessarily bc they have sleep problems.

looks like you're in the intensive care unit. unless you're a old geezer, why would you want to use one...especially if you have a girl over and she sees that...makes her wonder if you have some incurable disease or something.

                      ugly thing to wear.

A sleeping device that covers your nose and mouth and forces air down your throat so that you don't stop breathing while you are sleeping.

I need to use my CPAP again. But I am not currently using it. I can't stand to look at the thing. I have not used it in nearly a year. I had sinus surgery and that helped, plus losing a little weight helped me also. Use the CPAP only as long as you need it. Don't let it become chronic.

My grandfather uses one because he has sleep apnea. Says it makes him sleep like a baby and he feels great when he wakes up.

                                  Exactly!

I have been using it almost a week now and have had excellent sleep the last couple of days now that I'm getting used to the machine & mask.

I "only" slept about 6 hours last night but I woke up refreshed and well rested, without the machine I'd be waking up many times through the night due to my apnea.

My CPAP machine has been truly life altering for me so far, I've been sleep deprived for years.

I think I need it.... I wake up multiple times in the middle of the night and NEVER get a good well rested night of sleep... I need to find out where I can go and have a test done out in my area.

Go see your doctor, he should be able to recommend/refer you to a sleep specialist that will arrange for your sleep study.

It won't get any better by itself, I suffered for over 10 years before I got the help I needed, things are looking better for me, I hope you get the help you need as well.

Pico since you claim to have stopped gambling you've become a miserable slanty eyed cunt.

Lets try and have a laugh or two and lighten things up.

                                            I'll start:

Why would the world have been a better place if Adam And Eve had been Chinese?

Because they would have eaten the snake instead of the apple!

                                              Pico, heres another:

A Jew and a Chinaman were in a bar together, The Jew brought up the subject of Pearl Harbour, reprimanding the Chinaman for the disgraceful role his country had played. He protested vehemently, pointing out that the raid had been mad by the Japanese.

"Japanese, Chinese, they are all the same to me!" said the Jew.
Pretty soon the Chinaman fellow started talking about the tragic sinking of the Titanic, asking the Jew if he didn't feel guilty about sinking it.

"Hey, wait a minute," replied the Jew, "The Jews didn't have anything to do with the Titanic sinking, it was an iceberg!"
"Iceberg, Goldberg," said the Chinaman, "They're all the same to me!"

I use a BiPap machine. I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea. I would wake up in the middle of the night gasping for air, snoring up a storm, and getting no sleep. I kept putting off a visit to the sleep lab, but after continually falling asleep during meetings during the day, and nearly killing myself falling asleep behind the wheel, I decided to go.

They determined I stopped breathing about 150 times during the night with intervals ranging from 4 seconds to 45 seconds. I was immediately put on a Bipap machine, and I hated it....... the first night. After the second and third night, I had the best sleep in YEARS, plus I felt refreshed. I did not realize how much i was damaging my heart before getting the machine. It changed my life.

I am 6'3, 295, 37yo. Before I got the machine, I was 330 lbs. It gave me energy to exercise as well. As far as the female factor goes, I have a very beautiful understanding hispanic girlfriend (my friends always tell me I outkicked my coverage with her) who would rather me wear a mask and breathe when I sleep than snore and snort and choke in the middle of the night. Plus it is more peaceful for her.

If you ever have doubts, trust me -- get the machine if you have sleep apnea. I cannot sleep a single night without it now.
