SCAM Alert: New fraud sportsbook Houstonbets targets Vietnamese-speaking players
Houstonbets is a fly-by-night sportsbook using customer lists stolen by former employees at legitimate sportsbooks to target Vietnamese-speaking betors. They offer large bonuses without the intention of paying winners. One player won $19,000 and was denied his withdrawal before his winnings were confiscated. Houstonbets stated the winning bets were invalid because he used more than one computer IP address. Houstonbets does not have rules restricting computer usage by the player and has not cited any other player violations.

Justin said they called a player in this case, but younger people just starting, see a banner ad and sign up, understandably unknowing of what is a good book vs. a bad book. Unfortunately, from my experience, it is only after the player is jacked around that they find places like SBR to get good information about the on line gaming industry. This is inevitable and unless we find a way to advertise with local and/or state news sources, that trend will continue. It would be good to have ads for the likes of SBR in every local news outlets. It would save so many hundreds of the players who are curious to gambling and get lured into bad and fraudulent businesses that prey on players, Then cheat them.
