If you want to take a little more risk w/ equities don't pick a single name. Buy an index etf like SPY. Single names carry far to much risk/reward for semi-passive investors with low amounts of capital. Good luck.

15% should be put towards retirement or investments... investments should be limited to low cost growth mutual funds with 10 year track records. so I would put 401k plus w/e your match is...do it as a roth 401k if possible...otherwise go to a Roth IRA if you can. Then go back to just mutual funds...for any other investments.

The first thing you should do is a ROTH IRA, if you dont have one.

I think CD's are ok for your emergency funds. You try to build up a savings of a few months worth of bills, and keep it somewhat easily available. I use a CD for this.

stocks, sports, school are my three investments right now. School is the one paying off the most, with stocks and then sports.

Got bonds and invest in individual stocks. If I like a sector I'll buy the iUnit for the sector. XGD on the TSX for gold, or HHH on the Amex for American internet stocks etc. During the recent downslide I was fortunate to get most of my money out before the bottom fell and recently got back in. I had only a 10% loss while some ppl I know (my parents included) lost 40-50%. For tax reasons I couldn't liquidate everything.

how about beating the number with sports?

spread the money throughout the top books, line shop and chase steam

thats what I would do if I wasn't a broke college kid

my investing plan though is 20 year bonds or whatnot when I get out into the work field... open 1 each year (hopefully 25k or so bond)

then in 20 years I get that coming back to me each year plus my traditional retirement...

I am young and stupid though

yes, but it's busted up, had an uncle give it to me years ago, he didn't understand cards have to be kept in great shape, i think he carried it in his wallet or something before he gave it to me, the corners are all rounded and busted and there are creases all over it.

I was being sardonic with my post anyway.
