Most of you guys are phony Catholics so I guess it does not matter, I am Jewish American so I have the GREEN LIGHT to gamble. This is a Holy Week for lots of people around the world.

every time i bet on easter or xmas day, i get killed. i guess GOD is sending me a message.. and what do i do about it.. i continue betting on the holy days..
and i know i am going to lose today.. i just hope i dont lose that much.. so why do i bet then on days like this?? cause i'm a very sick man..

First of all I resent the term phony Catholics when it's applied to me. I may not be a perfect Catholic, but I still go to Mass three weekends out of four and I made it to the Good Friday service yesterday too. If my parish need a lector, a eucharistic minister, or a cantor/organist I'm always ready to make time and help out.
I really have never felt guilty over my gambling. I always give more money to charity each year than I lose gambling as my penance for squandering this money. As such, I don't think God is angry with me for gambling during Holy Week, and I personally think he laughs he ass off at all the noises and gestures I make as a game goes on. I am His child, and just like my parents would buy me presents from time to time to see me excited as a child, I think he's happy to see that a little $25 bet on a sporting event still makes me animated and joyous.

No guilt here, Willie. I wasn't specifically excluded, either. Since I'm one of the more visible Catholics on SBR, I figured I had the right to take a little umbrage at the remark. As an openly bisexual Catholic I've taken more than my fair share of heat about being "phony", and I guess I'm a little sensitive about it.
