#10504The cost of labor & supply & demand have nothing to do with one another.
The fact is that Walmart can pay more, they choose not to & give themselves, stockholders, & CEO's more. People that really don't do the work. Plus take from you & me as tax payers.
They are not giving people jobs out of the goodness of their heart, & will replace a person with a machine as soon as they can make more profit.
Which in the end is only fuking themselves, if people don't have jobs no one can buy their cheap crap.
I'll try again....if Walmart is so horrible to work at why do they have another 20 apllocations for call back to replace that worker on the check out aisle who are more than willing to come in? It's because they get paid to do a mindless job...in doors...with breaks...and stay clean. It's easy money vs factory work or manual labor as a painter or hanging dry wall which requires SOME talent.Comment -

#10505You miss the entire point. Being able to "afford" higher labor doesn't mean if a company makes $100 profit they should find alway to give back $98 of it and simply claim $2 only to make sure everyone else gets a piece. Walmart pays just as much as the Chevron station pays a Cashier or the Wendy's on the block does as well as the Lowes in town....it's commensurate with the job being done. A customer service manager makes a little more based on responsibility and up the chain it goes. You're looking at it from the wrong angle and taking year end profits to base on wages going forward into the next year and just throwing out a number. That's not how business works....sorry. Walmart has to balance variance plus competition and they pay out to farmers and many other vendors more than minimum wage. You just want to cherry pick the tiny either in the cog and play Good Samaritan ...personally that's great....but professionally it's way off target.

The jobs have been leaving the country by the millions since the 1970's as corporations look for cheap labor. Walmart was set up to be the facilitator of the products from that cheap labor. As millions of Americans standard of living is reduced & people are forced into debt slavery.
Cold hard fact is my friend, America is being sucked dry & abandon. Look around its not hard to see. Its not the country it once was, or the country you think it is. You also need to stop blaming people that have nothing to do with the system that suppresses them. All the wealth is being sucked to the top, & people are blaming each other instead of the system that is coming for most of us in the end.Comment -

#10506No I got the point. You think there are are a bunch of jobs out there that are waiting for people. Some Yes, enough no. If this is the case how come college grads are taking jobs a Star Bucks, & don't give me the old they went to school for the wrong job.

and negative public outcry of them to raise the standard. Now Target is following that standard.
All is for naught though. If you figure in health care premiums, they are still behind the 8 ball and is the main reason
why our economy is progressing at such a slow pace.Comment -

#10517I gotta agree to disagree with ya man. Plenty of jobs available now but yes...you do have to have some functionality to you while on the job. Whether you're a girl doing books for a local construction company or real estate assistant those you need no formal education for and if you're a guy you can get a few certs or spend few months in a school and hire on at $17/hr out of high school. College wise you can be hired or offered in junior year now in fields but definitely not European studies or general business. I'm not talking high six figure Wall Street jobs that are rare in reality but consistent throughout ideological forum fights. Hell my wife's youngest sister is about to graduate med field and deciding between two hospitals to work for. I just got a friend's son on a pipeline when he gets out this month from high school so he can save up all that cash for a year. Point is you have to earn your pay and put in time to advance. Can't expect Walmart to one day turn around and make you a rich stock boy or cashier.
You can't give a few examples & generalize that those opportunities are a available for everyone. Some people have to pick fruit & some have to work at walmart or any of the BS jobs out there. Because that's all there is. US manufacturing shipped out long ago.
None of this does not mean that Walmart can't pay more they can. Stealing from you & me is not something the richest family in the world should be doing. There's no way you can justify that.
Plus the fact that wages have been stagnant for 40 years while corporate profits & productivity have gone up. The wealth gap is out of hand, people need to make more just to survive. You heard the guy in the video, he's working 56 hrs a week & needs food stamps. When I was a kid my father was the only one that worked, nowadays both parents work some more than one job & still can't pay there bills. How is this right?

#10518Its not that there are no jobs & you give some good examples. Its there is not enough jobs & any job that is going to pay OK money, you must spend 2 to 4 years in college & be 30k to 100k in debt before you get there.

Bernie talking about Walmart now...he's on the losing side so I'm glad I side with the winners here. A Bernie voter can make just as much money as a Trump voter they just have to go get it. That's why America is great. To quote the great Nick Saban mediocre people don't like high achievers and high achievers don't like mediocre people. I'm not saying everyone is going to be a billionaire...thats impossible...I'm just saying if you want to get a job that supports a family and your means...there is one there for you if you put in the effort and if it's not there....then go create it! All I'm sayin. And yes there are plenty of jobs that don't require college up front....but the smart thing to do is work your way through college like most of us did back in the day or save up and go later. You don't have to be making $70k a year by the age of 22....it's a ladder.Comment -

America was great at one time.
Having food to eat & playing football is not the same thing.
That's what I been trying to tell you. The upward ladders of mobility are not what they once were. You can't export millions of jobs & think you live in the same country you once did. That's what makes some dumb bitch in Walmart blame someone using food stamp for the trouble she is having trying to get by.
Is that what you won, the right to blame poor people for the problems they didn't create. GL with that.Comment -

#10533She wasn't bitching that she was having a hard time....she was merely bringing to his attention he's a young able bodied guy and his assistance was being taken out of her check.....reminding that others are having to pay so his kid can eat. Look at how the amount of people on SNAP and EBT has risen.....easier and easier to get. It's just sad to a lot is all. Have some pride.
My guess would be not much goes to food stamps.Comment
