For years everyone's complaining there's too much money in politics and how politicians are being bought left and right. Now you get a guy that won't be bought and its "So what"
I bet if a democrat was running and and won't accept the money like Trump, liberals would be hammering that home daily.Last edited by DwightShrute; 01-07-16, 12:04 AM.Comment -

#3858I don't think I missed the point. The point I'm getting from this thread is that give me your money claims that foreigners hate their country because they don't want to move to America. What I am realizing is, give me your money is the one who hates America. He complains incessantly about Obama and Obamacare and the state of the country he lives in. At least everyone else in this thread agrees to disagree but they still love their country. Give me your money does not love his country, not from what I've read in this thread anyway.
It sounds like he would rather be somewhere else.Comment -

Its not so much that Trump wont accept their money as much as they dont want their names tarnished by being associated with the Trump political brand when he has asked them for money and they've refused to begin with.
Geez you people know how to spin...Comment -

#3862Trump on the Path of Reagan
The former president was considered a joke candidate — until he wasn't; Trump is following the Gipper stride for stride
From Realclearpolitics
"They called Reagan a wild man and irresponsible and a lightweight. They called him a racist. They questioned his understanding of Washington and of domestic policy. They mocked him when he had the courage to call out the enemies of America. Didn’t he know our enemies just wanted jobs and a better environment, and they’d give up their evil ways?
They even mocked his hair. He had a beautiful wife, but the liberal elites loathed her as just some fashion maven, and not a true feminist.

The New York Times wrote in 1980 that the Republican Party’s platform of the era looked as if it has “been written by a Klansman.” This is the way liberals often work. It is right out of Saul Alinsky’s playbook. Don’t engage. Instead, attack and mock. Don’t ever grant legitimacy to the opposing viewpoint.

A prominent liberal writer recently penned that conservatism was dead, but maybe it is corrupt Republicanism, corrupt liberalism, and corrupt Establishmentarianism that are dead. American conservatism — based on personal freedom, personal ethics — is doing just fine.
Trump is learning conservatism as he goes along. Cruz is marinated in conservatism. As one Reaganite said, “The church ain’t just for the saints; sinners are welcomed, too.”
And so, too, are converts.'

Not so fast Shruter.
Trump courted Koch's for their deep pockets and was rebuffed. The Koch brothers are freezing out Donald Trump from their influential political operation — denying him access to their state-of-the-art data and refusing to let him speak to their gatherings
of grass-roots activists or major donors.
Despite a long and cordial relationship between the real estate showman and David Koch,
as well as a raft of former Koch operatives who are now running Trump’s presidential campaign,
the Koch political operation appears to have concluded that Trump is the wrong standard-bearer
for the GOP.
And the network of Koch-backed policy and political outfits is using behind-the-scenes influence
to challenge Trump more forcefully than the Republican Party establishment —
by limiting his access to the support and data that would help him translate his lead in the polls
into a sustainable White House campaign.
The Koch operation has spurned entreaties from the Trump campaign to purchase state-of-the-art data
and analytics services from a Koch-backed political tech firm called i360,
and also turned down a request to allow Trump to speak at an annual grass-roots summit in Columbus, Ohio,
sponsored by the Koch-backed group Americans for Prosperity.
In addition, Trump was not invited to the annual summer gathering of the network of hundreds
of conservative mega-donors and operatives helmed by the billionaire industrialists Charles and David Koch.
That’s despite the Trump campaign filling out a questionnaire detailing the candidate’s policy positions and submitting it to Freedom Partners Chamber of Commerce, the Koch umbrella group organizing the summit.Comment -

Most successful businessmen that are worth what Trump is worth are typically very smart and show exceptional leadership qualities. Trump proved that on his tv show the Apprentice.. Problem solving, brain storming and making important decisions is second nature..
Flipside - Most failed businessmen become politicians because the can't cut it in the working world.. While they have a higher education and communicate well alot of them are insecure and have questionable leadership qualities.. Hillary Clinton comes to mind...Comment -

Successful businessmen who became Prez; Andrew Johnson, Warren Harding, Herbert Hoover, Jimmy Carter and the Bushes. A real shitfest of a list. None of the great President were successful businessmen. Somehow we've made it without that.
Republicans tried this angle last time with Romney.

#3871Reagan was a racist, or was at least appealing to racists. My case: announcing his campaign in Philadelphia, Mississippi (famous for one thing: killing blacks and Jews for having the nerve to register blacks to vote), and the whole "welfare-queen" from Chicago thing (and Chicago still means "black" among right wing twats).Comment -
