different events have different rules. sevens tourney has 5 pts for try and 2 for conversion.

i remmeber saw samoa 3-0 at one point int he tourney...maybe it was a penalty after they ram it up a kangaroo's ass...which is highly possible because they were playing australia.

Rugby league and rugby union are different sports. Rugby league has scoring of 4 for a try, 2 for the conversion, 2 for a penalty and 1 for a drop goal. Rugby union has 5 for a try, 2 for a conversion, 3 for a penalty and 3 for a drop goal. 7s is basically rugby union with fewer players on the field. The only differences are drop goal conversions to speed the game up and the scoring team kicks to the team that did not score because possession is more important than territory in 7s, whereas it's generally the opposite in 15-a-side rugby union.
