DANNEMORA, N.Y. (Reuters) - A New York state corrections officer was suspended on Friday in connection with the prison escape of two convicted murderers who have evaded capture for nearly two weeks, officials said.
Authorities did not say whether they believed the corrections officer, whose name was not released, would face charges or if he was believed to have assisted in the breakout at the maximum security Clinton Correctional Facility in the upstate New York community of Dannemora.

^^^ wow one or both of these guys is a master manipulator ....gl talking me into jeopardizing my freedom and cushy prison guard job they don't do much and have sick as union protection with all the overtime they could want why risk that for these two? Has anybody looked into the backgrounds of these two I know they're in prison so the assumption is they are economically challenged but what if one of them comes from a well to do family as in they have access to a lot of money they could be anywhere.

until reading the foregoing, I was perplexed as to how in the fuk a penal institution could be so totally fuked up and devoid of any value whatsoever....

then, after reading that snippet, one word therein made it all crystal clear: "CLINTON"

There's just bit of info trickling out that are just hilarious. Turns out the prison 'ho traded Sweat a pair of boxing speed gloves for a painting that he did of her kids and then she turned around and gave the painting to her husband as an anniversary gift! That is messed up!

These guys used her up like an old tampon, they were never gonna escape with her, she wasn't the getaway driver, just a fuggin' fool. They were never gonna kill her husband, they just used that to get stuff from her. There's gotta be some kind of IQ test to be able to get a job like that.

CUBA, NY - The Allegany County Sheriff's Office confirms that their deputies and other local police agencies are assisting New York State Police in a search for the two convicts who escaped from Clinton Correctional Facility last week.

Police are searching cars at the Friendship/Bolivar exit of the I-86 and traffic on the main Southern Tier Expressway is backing up.

Roads leading into the Town of Frienship are closed while police search.

A police helicopter is in the sky helping officers on the ground search for the suspects.

According to the Westville Daily Reporter, authorities have shut off a highway and trapped the two escaped prisoners on a set of local railroad tracks in Friendship, New York.
New York state troopers did not respond to Business Insider's request for comment, though according NBC's Tom Winter, law enforcement officials did confirm that the fugitives had been seen near Friendship.
Local reporter John Anderson tweeted that police believe that the two fugitives may have separated.
Earlier this month, 48-year-old Richard Matt and 34-year-old David Sweat broke out of a maximum security prison in upstate New York.
Hundreds of law enforcement officials have been involved in the hunt for the two suspects.
As the manhunt extended to its second week, some expressed frustration at the lack of significant leads.
Last week, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said that the two murderers could be near or “in Mexico by now.”
Both Matt and Sweat were serving potential life sentences for murder. Matt previously escaped a different jail in New York in 1986.
"They went onto a catwalk which is about six stories high. We estimate they climbed down and had power tools and were able to get out to this facility through tunnels, cutting away at several spots."
Before reportedly escaping through a manhole outside the prison, the two fugitives cut their way through several tunnels with power tools and worked their way through scaffolding that's six-stories high.
