I agree he probably should not be a max contract guy due to his lack of ft. And limitations on offense. But he's one of the best defenders in the league. If the clips don't give him a max offer someone else will. The clips need him to contend. And won't be able to get someone equal or better in FA

It's pretty gross that a guy who's an offensive liability, and can't even play in the fourth quarter, is going to be a max player, but he is. And it's going to be with the Clippers.

The worst part is, he'll probably even regress once he gets paid. He did that four years ago after he got his first big contract.

I think they'll change the intentional foul rule soon so he won't be a liability there.

He's so good on defense he must save so many points a game, but that kid from Miami might catch him soon he looks similar but can actually score from 3ft away from the rim.

When the CBA is renegotiated, this "max" deal is going to look like peanuts.

Players union can opt out after 2016-2017 season. They will. I'm guessing the new CBA might be negotiated before then. The max salary and salary cap restrictions in place today are toast which is why nobody cares about maxing out a mediocre player. Everyone will get max deals in the next two years. The best young guys will have opt outs.

Didn't read any posts... don't know if anyone mentioned this or not???

I understand he may not be worth "max" because of his free throw shooting... but if LAC doesn't go MAX... another team will. It's close to a guarantee.

Yep that's right. It's pretty much gonna happen either way.

Which is why clippers should offer their max deal to Lamarcus Aldridge. If someone else is willing to pay Jordan the max it doesn't mean the clippers have to. The market sets the max, not his production on the court. Aldridge is going to get max money too. Clippers should be smart about who they give the max

DeAndre isn't a max player but no doubt he's a monster on D and the boards. It's not like there is a better option like Dwight Howard out there. He is a great fit for the Clippers. Playing with CP3 and Blake (a pf who could pass) feeding him alleys helps cover up a lot of his deficiencies. They are just a couple of good bench players away from a championship. Lets not forget they were good enough to beat the defending champs. They would be over paying but they need to win now. DJ won't be near as effective in Dallas, playing with a ball hog like Monte Ellis...he won't get hear as many dunks, his only avenue of scoring.

No guarantee Monta is in Dallas next year.
