Errors are part of the game. But they weren't even errors, except for Salty's play. What do you want me to say? Pitchers still have to buckle down and get outs. That's all it comes down to. I don't know why you're putting words in my mouth saying he has to make another pitch to get a 4th out because there are only 3 outs in an inning anyway. There's no use arguing this because it will just keep going back and forth. You have your view and I have mine. So, if you really think that Benson is NOT getting lit up, is he pitching a good game? Is that what you're telling me?

Shouldn't even come down to arguing over something as little as this.

Anyway, GL to you the rest of the day babe!

Chic, what is a "mute" point? Try on "moot" for size and see how it fits.

And, yes, Kid -- if the team had played average defense, the score would have been 1-0 Tigers going into the fifth. For Benson, or anyone, that would have been a solid performance -- giving up the homer next inning gets him to 2 runs in 5 innings. That's not a decent start. Really?

I told you before and I'll say it again. Errors are part of the game and they do happen. Do you expect perfect defense EVERY time a pitcher takes the mound?

Time to bust out an oldie goodie.

The avatar of the mini-avalanche I was able to get a shot of while hiking in Goyko Valley in Nepal during my 3 year trip around the world is gay? Seems like the shot might be evidence I actually have a life away from the computer screen ... have you ever left the country, Chic?

By the way, have you been able to discover the difference between Mute and Moot yet? C'mon, the dictionary is your friend, even if the public school system wasn't

Kid -- I am saying when your team gives another team an extra out in 2 of the first four innings (and commits an error leading to an unearned run in one of the other two innings), most pitchers are going to give up several runs ...

I ask again, would Benson giving up 2 runs in 5 innings have been a "got lit up" start in your mind?

haha..wierdo..well that explains why you know nothing about baseball. Too busy traveling around the world. As for my education, I have a masters degree and I am currently working on my doctorate. I wager on sports as a hobby because I have a good enough job where I make enough money to play. Im not always in front of the computer and I have the right to mispell words if I choose too. At the end of the day, you are the loser trying to make yourself look smart. Just a bit of advice, when people try too hard to look smart, they are usually the ones lacking in that department xoxo

Chic, it wasn't a misspelling. You thought the one word was the other. "Moot" and "Mute" -- never knew the "u" and "t" keys were so close to the "o" key on your keyboard ... unfortunately, you're trying to use words you don't know how to spell. C'mon, there are so many you probably can spell -- stick to those, darlin'.

                              Mute points, notwithstanding.

Congrats on being a career student. Too bad nobody ever taught you how to spell. I weep for our educational system that gives out degrees to folks who don't know how to spell certain four letter words (but I'm sure you know how to spell the important ones, don't you?)

2 runs in 5 innings is not bad but you're just basing that on the fact IF Salty did not make an error and Young was able to field the grounder and start the DP. However, what if the 2B threw wide of 1B? The inning would still be alive. What if Cruz fielded the ball cleanly? The inning still isn't over. You still have to make pitches to get outs. That's it. If it's because of bad defense, Benson should have made a better pitch(es) to the next couple batters.

Salty's run was unearned. Young's ole job on the grounder is a play he makes 9 out of 10 times. And if Cruz caught the ball, the strikeout of Ordonez with the bases loaded would have ended the inning ... I like how you feel that a pitcher should just continue to make good pitches to get out of innings when his defense has given the other team extra outs ... as anyone who watches baseball knows, however, when a team is given extra outs in two of the first four innings (and an extra base in the third inning) solely because of the defense, bad things will happen to even the best of pitchers.
