#45I'll just say this is a smart move on his part. ESPN is going to start going the way of CNN and lose their ratings because of the garbage like last night, that they continue to try and shove down our throats. I only watch them when they have a sporting event that I want to watch. Don't watch News documentaries or Sportscenter anymore. I watch FS1 and the league sponsored channels for my news. Go to CBS Sports website when I go online. If their viewership goes down, they could really see some hard times ahead after all the overpaying they have done for some sports rights (NBA, cough, cough)Comment -

#53Headed to Fox. Cowherd one of the few ESPN shows I can stand even though he can be a little arrogant on his soapbox at times. Guy made a name/brand and now he is cashing in. Good for him. Freddie Coleman show decent, can't stand much else on their radio station. While Bomani Jones is intelligent, I don't like his show. Greenberg is such an ESPN shill. Always makes whatever in the moment the biggest thing ever. Overreacts and pushes the ESPN libtard and now gay loving/LGBT movement.Comment -

#66ESPN just signed a new contract with SVP, but will leverage him on a new SportsCenter show at midnight which will be somewhat like Keith Olbermann's show, who is also not being renewed.
With that said, because of new streaming services, slingbox, Netflix, and video streaming -- people are dropping cable packages at record pace. ESPN gets about $7 per month from Cable packages per subscriber, so their revenue is taking a massive hit. Disney has mandated to ESPN that they cut $500 million out of their budget in the next 3 years. So, the result will be the end of the high paid talent, and replacing them with hungry young cheaper talent. That is why people like Bill Simmons, Keith Olbermann, Colin Cowherd, etc are not being renewed. They were offered new contracts at a 25-50% pay cut, and they walked away. Add in record cost of rights fees from teams and leagues, and it is a real crisis for ESPN. They got too fat, and now they will be slaughtered.
They are also experimenting with commentators calling basketball games off a monitor in a studio rather than broadcasting live..... they tried it on 11 occasions with lesser Mountain West and other games in remote areas where it is expensive to send a full broadcast team.
They are slashing everywhere. Erin Andrews must be smiling that she ran to FOX now.
I would also expect that either ESPN News and/or ESPNU will be dissolved for moved to streaming only. No loss there.
On the plus side, it might also send Berman packing as well......... his retirement has been long overdue.
The door is WIDE OPEN for Fox Sports and NBC Sports channels. It is expected that Cowherd will land with Fox to do an NFL show - his former producer for SportsNation is running things for Fox Sports. Sirius and Directv, who produce Dan Patrick's show and Rich Eisen's show also is said to be interested. Or as the OP mentioned, he could do the political thing.Comment -
