    Anyone else a trivia junkie?
Anyone else here play trivia at the bar? Watch jeopardy?

I can't get enough. I'm on my way to play w/ one of those computer controllers at the local sports bar.

I qualify as a trivia junkie.

Not only do I watch Jeopardy, I have qualified to be on the show 3 times.

The first two times I was eligible for a 1 year period but you just have to hope you get lucky and get the call. Didn't happen.

I am currently eligible again - I took the test and qualified again a few months back. I keep hoping for the big news. I guess it's always a longshot but I've done all I can.

It would be a bloody exciting experience if it ever happened. Plus I would kick butt.

That is awesome Mudder. You would think that as a Canadian you have a foot in the door. But, alas Alex doesn't select the contestants himself.

Yeah I don't even have a clear idea of my odds. I guess they use about, what, 400 new contestants a year? 2 a day for about 200 days out of the year?? Maybe not even that many.

But I don't know how many qualifiers they are picking from. It used to be a more reasonable number when they only had in-person testing and you had to fight for spots in that.

But the way they do it now is an on-line test which anyone can take so there are probably much larger numbers.

I'm a trivia junkie too. I have a season pass to Jeopardy on my TiVo and I never turn down an opportunity for Trivial Pursuit or a good bar trivia session. I'm stuck with all these facts in my head, I might as well dust them off every now and then.

Boner, is the bar game you play that NSN Trivia thingy? We used to play that all the time at the BW3 near Rice U in Houston, quite a kick in the pants. That game and ogling the bartender's backside were the only reasons we went to the place.

That BW3 location would give free shots to the bar when we finished tops in the nation. There were a couple of trivia kings there (no, I wasn't one of them) who would just shout out their answers all the time and the bar consistently finished in the Top 10 of bar rankings. Used to be an expensive day for us since there were several occasions my buddy and I would have to call a cab to take us from the Medical Center area of Houston out to the burbs when we were too sauced to drive ourselves.

Yeah Willie I play on the NTN system. Ranked and all that jazz. It is really the only reason to go to the restaurant, the food and the service are terrible.

i got in the top 5 nationaly more than once playing NTN, and its no small task most of the time.

Tried out for college jeopardy in 94, didn't make the cut as the test is MUCH tougher than the real game.

Yeah that is damn good. There is usually 1-2 perfect scores in any given game. I've only made the top 20 in the nation once.
