Does anyone know anything about boats?
I have an opportunity to buy:

    1988 CITATION BOATS INC 1900CC
    19'
    1900CC
    Stern Drive Power Boat
    130 HP
    Gasoline

The NADA on it ranges from $2,400-$2900 and my uncle will sell it to me for $1k. It comes with the trailer and everything and was acid washed before it was stored last year.

Does anyone know anything about boats??? For a grand it could be a nice toy for the summer, any thoughts??

    Thanks!!!

With the current economy theres plenty of deals on boats, But if the trailor is half decent your almost getting the boat free,Won't find anything cheaper then that.
      Happy sailing.

WW: From what he has told me the trailer is in perfect condition, the seats were re-sewn 2 years ago and had a tune up 4 years ago. He uses 1, 22 gallon tank a year at most so it doesnt have much wear on it...

It obviously won't appreciate but if I spend a grand do you think I can get that back in a year?

            130hp...that is nothing.

remember rented a power boat with 150hp and i thought it was a bit slow.

I think so,your uncle probally just wants too see you get some use out of it.
My brother in-law bought a small 12 footer last yaer with a 9.9 and 2 yr old trailor for 900, selling it for $1500
as he expects to be talked down.
I don't think your uncles trying to get rich and at least you know were the boats coming from.
I'm thinking buying a little jhon boat just to bass fish and same as you not looking to spend a lot.
I'd buy it and see if you use it and if later you wan't to upgrade you can.
Who knows when the economys better maybe you could even make a buck on it.

My gf's family has 2 cottages and its about 2.5 hours away. I could probably dock it down there but then we have area's that are free to launch on the Niagara which is why I am considering buying it. I looked up in the manual and it says up to 1,000 lbs... I am guessing its around 2,500 including the trailer... I am googling now to see if any other people have tried it... Would you do it with your Alero?

Bud its a big boat,if it was a 16 foot aluminum no question,You got a new car,If you want to maybe spend a little bit more, maybe find a old beater truck or suv for a gino or something get a fake safty maybe $200 and just use it to tow the boat. If your only going to tow it locally woulden't be bad.
I think it would be pretty hard on your car and like I said its not a beater is practically new

Ya I guess why roll the dice right? $1k for a boat is so enticing but now having to spend money on a beater to tow it and everything is a different story...

                          fukk me

Thats why theres so many deals,Its one of those expensive toys,Gas to get it there, gas to play around
Looks like a great deal I hope you can work something out.
Maybe you got a friend with a truck that you can trade a free day on the water for a tow

Thats always an option, or renting an SUV for the weekend for like $75, but then the $100 for gas and stuff kind of makes it expensive...

Got some thinking to do! Thanks WW

Most rentals wont let you tow,They don't want guys running around pulling things that the vehicle shouldent be towing, and also insurance reasons.Tryed renting a truck to pull a landscape trailor with no luck.
