This looks like a gift. The only thing that worries about this play is this: Ohlendorf compiled a 2.55 ERA with just two walks in 24.2 innings in Spring training.
Any thoughts?

I like Pittsburgh +165 for the game. Good luck fearless.

So you think Ohlendorf will keep his team close enough for them to win in the late innings? Or... do you actually expect Ohlendorf to outpitch Carpenter?

hard to know for sure what you will get from either.... especially Carpenter...
Ohlendorf was sharp in spring training, he threw no off speed stuff for his first 3-4 starts....
I'm not touching this game

Carpenter has been extremely consistent the last several years. I took Carpenter -195 for the first 5 innings. Feeling great about it.

Only problem is Carpenter going deep without an injury. I wouldn't touch this game yet. Too many ifs. Carpenter hasn't pitched since 2006 except 3 games late last year where he was injured again.

I'm assuming that he'll get through 5 innings. If he doesn't get that far due to injury then I'll be disappointed. But, he was fine in spring training so I see no reason to worry about it.

Yes, consistently injured.

I'd probably most likely chose Pags to jack off too.

Read the quote below and tell me why I should worry about the first five innings today.
Carpenter started off this spring with 14 scoreless innings, though he had just four strikeouts in that span. He allowed six runs (four earned) over his last two starts, but struck out 13 in 9⅔ innings. He finished spring training with a 1.52 ERA and nearly three times as many strikeouts as walks (17 to 6).

But you said he has been extremely consistent the last several years when the fact is he has only pitched about 20 innings in 2007 and 2008.
But having read the article, I'm now convinced that your bet is a lock.

Add up all his stats since 2004 (including this year's spring training) and it's great consistency.
You don't have to be sarcastic, there's no locks in baseball. This is a 5 star, top of the line bet, imho.

Big line movement towards St. Louis. Some Vegas books have them as high as -215 favorites. I want to put more on Carpenter.

I just more than doubled my bet on Carpenter for the first five innings. It's a steamer that better pay off.

I hope you win. That was one of the worst beats I've ever had. Carpenter through a no hitter through 5 innings and I lost 1-0 on an unearned run. Unbelievable!

he's pitching a no hitter after 6 but is losing 1-0!

It would be hard to write a script for a worse beat.
