Who Thinks Soccer Should Implement a Playoff System?

Is it just me or is anyone else sick of seeing the same 3 or 4 teams win the EPL, Serie A, and Primera and other soccer competitions every year for what seems to be the past 100 years.

Granted, the current method really filters out the BEST team of the year, but adding playoffs/tournament scheme (ala Champions League or even MLS) would make things more diverse and fun.

Dude....U need to do some research and learn how the Champions league works. As a matter of fact it wokrs better than the playoff system. Teams that finish 1st to 4th in the strongest leagues go to the qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.

In big legues like the EPL and LA LIGA you cannot prevent Barca and Manchester to get to the finals and win...but they are all good teams... i don't think there is a system that can stop them from winning all the games...

They won't change the league format to a playoff system. It's tradition.

Like Mario says, Champions League is the bread and butter.

Good question. Females play it, I know that.

They have cups, like the FA cup pavyracer mentioned. These "playoffs" just aren't taken as seriously. The middle and bottom teams are worried about getting relegated, so they play a lot of reserves. The top teams, on the other hand, are worried about qualifying for Europe, and not tiring their players (Europe + League + Cup = lots of games).

In essence though, the Champions League is really a "playoffs" for the best teams, so I don't see it as a big problem.
