Dispatcher in Pitt in trouble for not notifying 3 dead cops guns were in house. What!
Hmmmmm,I was surprised at all the astonishment by national media people that were appalled that the Pittsburgh police dispatcher didn't notify the cops that were shot dead that the house they were called out to had guns in it.What!!!Grant you that dispatchers are usually sluff offs doing their nails, crossword puzzles and sleeping while calls come in,I would just assume in a place like Pittsburgh, cops would assume there are guns in the house they are called out to.It's where the movie The Deer Hunter was filmed,it's near West Virginia, the majority of the people that live there are blue collar immigrant heritage families from the eastern block. It all spells out liking guns and ammo.Usually Lou Dobbs is a voice of reason but even he ragged on the dispatcher.

I'm surprised that the democrats haven't been screaming gun bans more than they usually rabidly do after all these cases the past few weeks where guns were involved.I will be glad to give up all my guns when democrats from the president to celebrities walk around without secret service and armed guards.

Brent, I worked my way through college dispatching. Not one dispatcher I knew ever did their nails or worked crossword puzzles at the desk. And if this dispatcher had that info that there were indeed guns in that house, it should've been passed on. Don't believe this issue has a thing to do with a Robert De Niro and Christopher Walken movie. Even if politicians and celebrities stop having bodyguards, I won't give my guns up.

It was an unfortunate incident plain and simple. I don't think the dispatcher should be fired (which is going to happen) or face any criminal charges, because it was a careless lapse of thought. I'm just sick of people blaming everything/body else but the crazee a**hole who committed the murders. The news is full of all this "is he crazy?, is he racist?, could the dispatcher have prevented this?" garbage, and it's driving me nuts.
