I give credit to the rookie corner. He made the play on a 60/40 ball. Play was there for Wilson and the rookie beat the Seattle player. Credit to him for winning that play.

Butler did the right thing on the Kearse play too.

Was an absolute joke of a move by Belichick by not calling timeout. Seattle had two time outs and could have called them when they wanted. There was no reason at all for Bellicchick to do that. The all 22 still and this shot make me think the blame should be on Russel Wilson not the play call. The Hawks caught the Pats goalline D thinking run and actually created a nice void behind the line. If Wilson puts the ball on the receivers numbers there's no way it's a pick and it's most likely a game winning TD. Instead he put it 2 feet in front of his man with 2 defenders breaking on the ball and it's game over.

I think you are confused. I think Sanders was the only running back to touch the ball that game for Detroit.
I could be wrong though, I remember Andre Ware fumbling in that game, but he was QB, Lions weren't beating the Redskins that game anyway.

Best chance Lions had to get to the Super Bowl was 1983, but Montana being Montana hit Freddie Soloman for that late TD.

Thats only because he had 110 carries more than Lynch, both had 13 td and average 4.7 yards a carry. Lynch better average per reception, 4 td receptions to Murray's 0. Lynch 2 lost fumbles, Murray 5.

No doubt about it; Carroll's only mistake was assuming that Wilson could throw a ball accurately from six yards away. Nothing wrong with the call.

If Beast mode is the obvious play call to get in from the 1...so obvious that EVERY media outlet and EVERY casual game watcher knew, then how obvious you think it was to Belichick. Remember the defense has an extra player on the field during run plays...remember wilfork is one of the best run stoppers of the last decade...remember belichick committed to getting the stop there by not calling the time out (for those who criticize bill's call there remember what happened last time he tried to put his offense on the field to win it instead of his defense...), and therefore seattle was racing against the clock as much as they were against the pats D.

Carroll called a BEAUTIFUL game. After watching the NFC 'ship, that guy could really be the second best coach in the national football league. This is coming from someone who HATES seattle (and more so new england for that matter). The fault is on Russell Wilson and ONLY him; had he thrown the ball to the back shoulder of the slant (as is typical on pick plays in the redzone), he would have won the game. Carroll called a flawless play. The man was by definition...WIDE OPEN.

Other options:
Lynch - too obvious, and that's even disregarding the fact that he has been SHIT from the 1 yard line all year (could it be...because its so expected!?!? *gasp*)
Fade - Decent call, but seattle has the worst receivers in the NFL versus some of the best corners. Russell sucks and probably more likely to throw a pick on that than on the slant even. Most likely a wasted play.
Bootleg - my initial instinct said that this was the call, but on second thought its probably fairly predictable and the risk/reward sucks because a sack would put the game all but out of reach for seattle (puts them in an intensely predictable situation based on down and distance)

So you gotta be safe but creative. Slant call fits the bill but Russ blew it. He's average as they come. Lynch would have got a touch on 3rd or 4th had Russ not thrown the pick. So don't blame pete.

To me not calling a time out there was like letting the clock run down and then Phil Jackson ask Jordan to take it full court in a half of a second (instead of ten)and win the championship. The smart play would have been to let Seattle score or call a time out. This bullshit he wanted to confuse Seattle is just that bullshit. What makes NE at that point so prepared on the one but Seattle was a mess? He wasn't gonna score no matter what he did that is why from the 50 he was throwing bombs like he didn't want to win. Imagine being on the fifty with 130 to go and u are throwing bombs. They caught lightning in a bottle because of a miracle catch. The sad part is that Wilson didn't change the play. That is why the quarterback doesn't call his own plays. Coaches control the outcome of games.

I don't care that it's obvious, New England was not stopping Lynch at the 1 yard line. New England's interior line hasn't looked very good all year. I don't know if Wilfork has declined, but I'm guessing he has. Their defense did a good job of gang tackling and limiting to Lynch to "only" 100 yards, but their d-line was not getting much penetration up the middle all game. They looked pretty porous at collapsing the line against the run against Baltimore as well. Seattle could have QB sneaked it with Wilson straight forward, handed it to Lynch, playaction rollout option, etc, and they WERE scoring. I'm grateful for the INT, since I backed New England, but there was absolutely no way New England was putting up a goal line stand there. Hell, they just gave up a 5 yard run on 1st down. They were not going to stuff Lynch.

You're falling under a classic misconception that because a back is a 'bruiser' that means he's a good goalline back. There is a LOT more that goes into being a goalline back besides just being 'sturdy' or resilient. This is because the offense has to block 11 men with 9 men. If running for 2-3 yards up the middle was "automatic", nfl teams would do it EVERY play, regardless of yard line.

Lynch is 1 for 5 this season from the 1 yard line. Facts. Lynch is in the bottom 25% of qualified backs for scoring from 1 yard out in the last 5 seasons. Facts. Lynch is more likely to LOSE YARDS from 1 yard out than he is to score a TD. FACTS. Attribute this to whatever you want, but the facts/stats stand firmly alone. Lynch gets stuffed on 2nd, Hawks have 2 downs, <20 seconds, and ZERO timeouts to get in. That means they have to call the next 2 plays together so they can get them off if clock doesn't stop. 2nd down was the best down for a pass. 1st arguably was, which is likely why lynch managed 4 yards on the carry before...because belichick was playing pass (only thing I'm not sure of in this post...more of an assumption so feel free to ignore...I'm a FACTS guy...)

Also wilfork was a HUGE factor all game. Even when he's not making plays, he's making plays by drawing double teams in the trenches. Hell, even the commentators mentioned this once or twice in the game. If they can see it, WE should see it.
