Microsoft April Fools' computer worm and McAfee question
I installed all of the current Windows updates today and reinstalled McAfee Security suite. The suite slows my PC down a lot. Does anyone else feel the McAfee security suite affects your navigation? Norton was real bad, too. Now, both are real bad bogging down programs, IMO.

Also, That April 1st worm is supposed to go off tonight. Are you concerned? Microsoft must be with the reward on the table.

CNN mentioned a Safety.Live website to check out and run a free scan program to check your system for the worm infection.

    Let's see what happens tomorrow.

    Good luck

    sky is NOT falling!

Try the new Norton, VASTLY improved and uses much less system resources.

I was a Norton basher for years until they released the 2009 versions of their antivirus, now I'm a big supporter of their stuff.

You could always use free AV such as AVG, Antivir, etc.

CNN Tech - How will the April Fools' computer worm affect you? What is Conficker.c and what do analysts fear it may do?

          The fear network? No thanks.

Once again General, the sky is not falling and the sun will rise tomorrow, you have nothing to fear my meek little moderator friend.

Yeah, BetPlom and I agree here. McAfee has become serious bloatware that bogs down your system, just as Norton was until these latest releases. Get any of the Norton 2009 programs and you'll be blown away by how easily you forget that they're even running until the catch a virus or a security breach.

I would however recommend scheduling the Norton update process for later in the evening, when I first installed them it always seemed to happen in the early evening when I was glued to a sporting event and would bog my system down for about 90 seconds. Trivial I know, but I thought I'd mention it.

Get this, currently, the best anti-virus and it is free for personal use, no reason to pay for the inferior products:

It's amazing how much slower my system is w/ McAfee running.
