Anyone smoke Marlboros here?On average even before the upcoming huge tax increase takes affect, how much are you paying for a carton with sales tax included in most states?$50 or more, right?
As a libertarian non weed user I could care less if someone smokes joints or grows it for their own use in their basement. It's the same as drinking booze in my opinion where a person picks their poison. It's not good for your health in some respects and in some it probably improves your mental health etc.if you like winding down after a crap day.Just don't drive and bash your car into mine because you were high.
Then if you are in pain from a terminal health issue, why not dull the pain. The only thing is that the California legalization dealie for people with health issues is a snow job. They just want to legalize it period and that's a way around the laws.I never could figure the deal out where people have to advertise that they use weed.Just use the stuff and shut the hell up about it.
So the country and states are bankrupt and need tax revenue. They will have to legalize pot in the near future. So what makes the government and people that use weed think that they can sell it at an affordable price and making tax revenue doing so when a carton of Marlboros in a few weeks will cost $100 in New York? All the government is going to do by legalizing pot is going to be creating a bigger black market for it where the black marketeers can undercut them. The government by legalizing pot will just cultivate new customers and once they become steady users, they will shop for value.
Anyone have a take on this matter? Then what about liability? If a liquor store sells booze to a sober person that causes an accident, they are on the hook for dram shop law insurance. Can you imagine how many people doing stupid things like extreme sports who get banged up or killed using government sold pot will sue the government? It would create a whole new layer of bureaucracy to manage pot if it were legalized adding to the cost of it where it couldn't be sold at an affordable price.Other taxes would have to be used to support the supposed tax generating pot selling program.Even if the government licensed private companies to sell it,it would be cost prohibitive.
It would be like what GM is going through selling cars at a 4 grand loss per car.The more they sell, the more money they lose.A no win situation.
