                  Is 1000 new accounts a day a lot? I don't know. That's only like 250k / year (business days). They claim to be operating in 40 countries, so we're not just talking U.S.

                      E*trade sucks! High fees plus they screw you on fees if you don't make a trade during a quarter. Scottrade is way better.

                          I believe them, first off they dont say that the 1000 new accounts are funded, they just say they are opened. With all the folks who got laid off, there are also alot of 401ks that needed to be turned into IRAs, Im sure that has boosted their new accounts big time.

                          Personally I have several E-trade accounts, some are funded at certain times and others arent. I personally use different accounts for different things, option trading, IRAs(long term stuff), short term trading, and a margin account for shorting. Its easier for me keep everything seperate, JMO.
