Considering the Dodgers pitching staff has some serious holes and that pitching well could land you a spot on a serious NL West contender as well as the fact that pitching poorly in the spring is more likely to get you sent to Triple A then it is to get you traded (after all, why would the team trading for you want a guy that looked terrible/dogging it out there), this rumor makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Milton is coming off of Tommy John's surgery in 2007 after missing all of 2008. This guy is pitching for his MLB life, there is absolutely no way he won't be pitching his heart out.

That said, he sucks, and his spring ERA is 5.40, so I'm not saying he is going to pitch well. But no one is going to trade for damaged goods; he's just trying to make it back in the bigs.

Exactly. He could get a spot HERE. He is competing for the 5th spot.

He is not young, he was never good, and he is coming off of major reconstructive surgery. He has zero trade value.

He wants to try and earn this spot. Pitching for a contender in a pitcher friendly ballpark could increase his value.

Throwing a spring training game and not making the rotation makes a LOT less sense.

He had a decent year in 01, 15 - 7, though the 4.32 ERA is nothing special. only time in his career it was under 4.49.

Last 3 years in Cincy before the surgery his ERA has been over 5.

Coming back from surgery and pitching poorly is a great way to prove your career is DONE, not that you are ripe to be traded.
