Is 2009 SEC the worst major conference ever?
they will have not one single team in the tourney afetr tomorrow if Tennessee doesnt get their heads out of their asses. HAs any major conference ever done this in recent memory? where are the guys who said SEC would have 2-3 sweet 16 teams and maybe a FF team too.

No. This is 1 year where the SEC was caught in a transition year. But worst of all time? No. I'm sure there have been major conferences that only got 1 or 2 teams in. SEC got 3.
SEC is 1-1 so far in the tourney. LSU beat a very good Butler team yesterday.
You have to look at the East (and southeast especially) much different than the west. There are no major conferences in the west other than the Pac 10. 1 major conference in the entire region. In the east there are 4 or 5 major conferences (SEC, Big East, Conference USA, ACC, and I'm not sure if the Atlantic 10 is considered a major conference or not). So there is much more to dilute the talent.
Even so, the SEC has been one of the top 2 or 3 basketball conferences (until this year) for many many years now.
Also I like to look at things in a regional perspective. The south has many great teams. Wake Forest, Duke, NC, Memphis, Clemson, LSU, Tennessee, Louisville, VCU (who lost by a point to UCLA), and probably many more but I'm too lazy to think. Florida of course won back to back. Nobody does that this day in age.
Whereas the Pac 10 has no excuse for their patheticness in football and average basketball. They are the only conference out there worth mentioning. The Pac ten over the years is really a terrible sports conference and they have no excuse.

Good points. I am not saying the SEC was awful last year or any other year, but this year they sure are. Yes, i bet tennessee and they look bad. But MISS st was throttled by a pac10 team, and vcu lost to a pac10 team (though i bet vcu ml). I am just saying this yr, SEC is awful. and has there ever been a major conference who didnt get one team past round 2? im curious is all

I don't think he was downplaying any of the past performances of the SEC. It is just amazing at how great the SEC was and how bad it is this year. In previous years and even the preseason you could practically guarantee that one of your final four teams would be from the SEC. Every conference goes rough stretches though it happens.Comment -

No UCLA had two straight years of final four appearances. Before that they where on a run of not even getting into the tournament it wasn't until they changed their head coach that they actually turned the program around. So during those years when they where not in the tournament the Pac 10 had to be one of the worst conferences ever.Comment -
