Why is March Madness such a big deal?
    Never understood it myself.

On any given Saturday, or Wednesday night for that matter, there are dozens of college b-ball games to play. What makes these games any different.

    Same shit.

Wednesdays and Saturdays from December through February don't mean the losing team is done for the season, and 6-game win streaks during the same time don't put trophies in your case.

      1. The games mean more
      2. Brackets create excitement for the casual fan
      3. Continuing coverage on a major network... when else do you get CBS covering 50+ hours of basketball over 4 days?
      4. More public money being bet for the sharps to take
      5. A more widely acceptable excuse to sit on your ass and do nothing for 4 days since so many people watch.

I understand why the fan boys like it, I understand the draw for sports fans. But as for guys who made it, does it really matter to them if they are playing a first round matchup between Duke and Oral Roberts, or some Norwegian Bandy? A game is just a game.

Ohh, well yeah if youre talking about sharp bettors who don't bet for the rush, there's not really too much of a difference. Like I said in point 4 though, there is more public money to be had which can potentially make things a little easier.

Can't compare stanley cup playoffs to anything, really. Nicky that isn't fair.

There will be a parade down Bay St. the next time the leafs make it out of the first round.

And the rest of the world won't bat an eye though.

Way more props available than normal. The last longers the Greek put up initially were absurd and there were a ton of them. Not quite Super Bowl good but still any event that is popular means more bet types which means more good stuff to bet.
