Sign up and fill out a bracket even if you AREN'T a basketball fan!
Every time March rolls around, brackets reign supreme.
This article isn't as much for the hardcore college basketball fan as it is for the casual or non-existent fan. I can speak directly to this crowd; I am, after all, a member of it.
I love football, I love baseball, and I love hockey. For whatever reason, despite the fact that love of sports runs through my veins, I've never been able to get in to basketball. I don't hate it. In fact, I don't even dislike it. I'm just relatively indifferent about it, which is a sharp contrast to the other major sports here in the USA.
But March Madness is its own beast. A beast very difficult not to be intrigued by, and almost impossible to flat out ignore. So why not just embrace the madness and jump into the fray? I've included a video on the positives to getting involved in a bracket contest with little-to-no basketball knowledge at all.
My completely-unsubstantial favorite upset pick of the first round? 10 Seed USC over 7 Seed Boston College. Sometimes momentum can be one of the most important things in sports; enough can't be said about getting hot at the right time. And USC has seemingly done this, finishing the season with 5 straight wins, all wins ATS as well. These wins include impressive ones over UCLA and ASU in the Pac-10 Tournament. Boston College meanwhile is 4-5 in their last 9, and may have trouble facing a red-hot Trojan team.
Read the little write-ups and make educated guesses. Pick the city you'd rather visit. Mascot you like better. Who cares? You have nothing to lose, and at the very least a round's worth of entertainment to gain. Sign up while you still can!
