I once found myself at a block party there and was scared for my life... (bars on the windows and what not) they do have a nice side though... and andruw is from there

I always stay at 5 star resorts in Curacao and never visit the local joints. I agree though Aruba is better.

I was on a cruise, and curacao was a stop

friend and I figured we would just walk around the island, and we found ourselves in the wrong area...

it was fine though, people weren't mean or anything, it was just scary (I was wearing a pink polo and a fake rolex on the wrist...)

Pavy there are no 5 star joints in Curacao. The Kuralanda is great but in a boring location.

Move to Costa Rica on a whim?? NO. You'd need a real good reason to move there. You move to the Philippines on a whim because its dirt cheap to live and amazing super models will fight over you. Neither of those are true in Costa Rica.

The good resorts are on Piscadera Bay like the Hilton. Also later this year a new Hyatt is opening on Santa Barbara Plantation with a golf course on the beach. I know this because I engineered it.

The Kuralanda is in Willimsted downtown which I agree is not the best place to stay unless you like the harbor setting.
