Back in the depression the so called unemployment rate was almost 25% and today it's 8.2% and rising.Back then at the beginning of the depression before FDR came into power very few people worked directly and indirectly in some capacity for the government.FDR started the ball rolling where today if we eliminated non essential and non productive government related work we would easily add 15% to the unemployment rate.
Back in the depression,people didn't have credit card debt,2nd mortgages and women weren't forced to work as 2nd bread winners in the family to hold the family finances together.Then what about all the added taxes people pay and all the regulations that have been imposed un us where everything has become burdensome.Essentially we are now a society of endentured servant slaves.
Would someone unemployed back in the depression really want the problems most fully employed people of today are burdened with?I don't think so.The quality of life in many respects is not as good for most people today and if it is,it's because some future tax payer is paying for their job and good lifestyle.
