It was a defensive mistake, Romo was throwing well. In the game before yesterday, in which he gave up 5 ER, Pagan also made a mistake as he threw to the wrong base. In the end the numbers add up against Romo, but both times Pagan was the one who failed more.Comment -
His fastball isn't anything special. He's gotten by with an elite slider, but this season it's grading as below average. He has some weird looking stats tho. ERA of 5, whip under 1, 65% lob, 1.32 hr/9. With a less effective slider, batters are going to start teeing off on his fb. His days of dominance are probably over.Comment -

As a Giants fan I am a little bit considered with Romo as the closer, too, because he isn't the typical closer and if his slider is off his fastball won't work. He can spot it well but it's too slow. He established a changeup last year but he doesn't throw it much.Originally posted by daneblazer

I don't like it that he didn't throw the slider at all in the spring. He's always been one that's had a high injury risk. I still think he'll be effective...as long as he's healthy...but he was one of the toughest in the league to get a run off of the past 3 years. Those days are probably over.Comment -
