Bread, Cuba is the safest country in the world for tourists, they do not fukk around when it comes to crime.

Cuban prisons are the most wretched horrible places on this planet.
The Cubans are well aware of the consequences of messing with a tourist, violence against tourists is non-existant, thefts are more likely if one provides an easy opportunity.

I've been 9 times and never been a victim or even heard of another Canadian being a victim of crime while in the country.

One of the reasons I vacation there is because of the safety.

The kids are playing baseball everywhere, when they don't have a proper bat and ball (and most don't) they use a stick and a pill bottle filled with rocks!

I brought some brand new Cooper tennis balls with me and had some with me on my mini bike, when I saw kids playing baseball with a pill bottle I would chuck a new tennis ball towards them and drive away, I really wish I brought more tennis balls, the feeling I got when I saw the reaction from those Cuban kids was priceless.
